Just want a bit of sympathy from you cheapy Americans :p

UK petrol prices or "gas" (wtf gas???) are at all time high of £1.999 per litre (probably would be higher but none of the machines can go higher (see image)!

Just so you can visualise this is:
$14.850 per US Gallon!

If I was rich it would probably be cheaper to fill a tanker up over there and sail it down.

You make it sound like our houses are 1/3 of the size, we all are midgets.
How often you you go "cross country", like 500km?

I'll be albe to start learning in 9 days time if I wanted to.
But i don't really want to so its unlikely I'll learn for another few years, the only reason I might want to learn sooner rather than later is the fact the stupid government want to make you take lessons spread over 12 months before allowing you to take any form of test.

All my friends who said they'll only take a test when they really need to, suddenly took lessons this year after they heard about the new rules being implemented. I'd like to get a car to take my friends around in but Portsmouth is such a small city, i cycle everywhere. It was the most densely populated city in europe untill about 2001 and the same was true for the 'car population'. There's just no room and so many people have 2 cars. Garage's are worth as much as houses here.

Plus i've always wanted a motorbike, even if everyone tells me it's a death trap they're cheaper, cost less to run.. i think the insurance is a little extra because of their hazardous rep. At any rate my dad and uncle used to be in a biker gang so...

im actually for higher gas prices. it'll eventually lead to innovation to move us away from fossil fuels faster.

where in the UK is unleaded 1.99? Surely thats a photoshop you did there. unleaded costs me 1.14. I see where you are going with this though, kinda annoying that Americans pay like half of what the UK pays. (Also its called gas in America because its short for gasoline).

Stupid metric system. Anyways, whats the $ to £ conversion rate? Cause there is roughly 4 liters per gallon (3.89), so we might actually have cheaper gas(oline) than you guys, heh.
