What you mean is: The metal roof doesn't work without some kind of trim, how many buildings have their roof plonked straight on the top of the main wall? practically zero.

For Desertion I'm copying Upward's theme, and a lot of them are plonked right on top of the wall.

I found an old VMF where I tried to implement the Unreal Tournament domination gamemode in TF2.

It worked, but so many entities...

I also couldn't figure out a workable layout for it so I shelved it.

from the bit of scrap wood in the ground in the last screenie it doesnt look like you're using -staticproplighting
You aint gonna get the scrap metal props to light well without that. Probably wanna throw -staticproppolys and -textureshadows in as a matter of fact with those upwards fences and all the rock props you'll be sinking into displacements.

Yeah, but those take a long time to light, so you really don't need to do that until final lighting stages.

Just know that when you do they WILL light properly.

(without them it lights by the origin of the model which may be buried in the ground [no light], -staticproplighting lights the objects per vertex, so any verts in the ground will be dark, any in light will be bright)

That metal on the porch fence thats just hangning there seems odd, I assume there is a sort of backing?

Besides that I'm loving the detailing so far, its really nice.
