We were talking about the events in Steam chat

What if you could subscribe to the events forum?
So we would get an email when a new event was posted.

If you talk to an administrator about the time it usually goes up (24-48 hours before), you can usually get them to post it and stick around for it to go up and then get a spot. But then again, there will always be people who miss out and someone to complain about.

I don't like to complain, I've managed to not post fast enough for most gamedays I've tried to get in and a few times had everyone leave before my map so I'm just trying to maximize my chances

We get into this whole debate every two months or so and ask what about people who don't get in. I live in Australia, so by the time I get time to get on, the events are generally full. We've tried heaps of solutions so far, but really, none have worked. So unless anyone has another solution that's practical and works, it's just keep on trying and hope for an impromptu.

TF2maps isn't the only community that runs testing sessions. Playstuff run blueprint on some Friday's, hampshire heavies run (if eratic) tests on some Sunday's, Ardy runs "cafe of broken dreams" tests on tuesday. waxpax recently came along with comp testing opportunities: here. Then there's 2f2f which has been a hub for many of the original officialised maps.

You guys have got to stop relying on TF2M for everything you need. As much as we all want it to be that centre of attention and productivity, that's just not how it is. There's a web of communities that you and they can mutually serve. There's only so much 1 person can do for another, 1 community can do for you. If you wanna go far, there's a little more effort that's necassery on your part.

I suggest going through this list: http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=8979

and start publicising your work for additional interest, play testing and feedback.
