A timebomb model. Was originally a "sketch" I made in Maya. Currently under development.

The idea I had would be to replace the sticky grenades with this. Imagine shooting literal timebombs out of a launcher.

If that doesn't appeal to to anyone, it can be a prop.

Would be weird seeing it come from a launcher.

Looks alright but I see 2 issues.

1, the sticks of dynamite only really need one segment. It's not large enough to need extras for better vert lighting in game. You have 10 extra segments pre stick. Didn't count sides but that's somewhere around 300 polys x 6 sticks, It's like 2000 wasted tris.
Also the dial, you could flaot the smaller pieces in front and shave a bunch of polys there. Looks like you are around 4000 tris altogether, that model could easily be done and look just as good at 1200 tris.

2, the 'tape' or straps should be taught. Right now it's loose and everything would just fall apart.

It'll be attached using the only good material in the world, tape.

Now back to the original model!

An update on the model in question, new screenshots available. I'd post the model but I don't know what the format I'm suppose to release it in. Anyone know what the basic format everyone uses here?

.mdl, .vtx, .vvd, .phy, .vmt, .vtf. What I'm trying to say is all of the files that are produced after a compile plus the materials.

I'd smooth out a lot of the things you have there, mainly the cables and dials; the latter of which could safely use some more edges. Also, add thickness to the tape. Have you decided on what type of model this will be?

Just a heads-up, I doubt that anyone here will take the time to create a .qc and compile a model that someone submitted as a .smd (which is useless if uncompiled, btw). You need to do that yourself - in case you don't know how, see the VDC articles on it.

Models aren't just .smd files; they're made of .mdl, .vtx, .vvd, most often .phy, and .vmt and .vtf files; the latter two being for the texture. Compile your model as instructed by the above link and it should be good to go :)
