So, do you guys think that we could ever get valve to distribute some of the best custom maps to the console community? I think it would be great. Maybe only the 5 best out every 6 months. I just think that the console community deserves some variety as well. ;)

I dunno. Unlike with the PC, Valve is charged certification and other fees every time they release content for the 360/PS3, even bug fixes. We could always email Valve to find out.

The console versions don't even have Badlands or Goldrush yet, correct? While it would make a lot of sense, I highly doubt we'll see custom maps on the 360 any time soon.

Hahaha nice idea but I think it will be impossible.

Yeah. I switched from PS3 to PC just because the future looks dim for console TF2. They haven't been able to even get a single patch out yet, so thinking beyond the two official maps being added is quite a stretch.

A clever haxor could rip apart the 360 disc, and fixlddle around with the files a bit, possibly adding a renamed custom map to replace an existing file, assuming that the 360 uses the same .bsp file format. Of course with the updated entities removed.

I honestly never can understand why someone would get an FPS for a console when a PC version exists. Are they unaware that custom content will make a game at least ten times more interesting and replayable?

Some people like controllers. I use my PS3 controller to play TF2 on my PC. It's just easier for me.

valve is not in control of custom content downloads on the consoles like they are with the PC version. So even if they wanted to give out the PC content they couldnt without a huge headache and possibly incurring fees on their own asses.

What I have heard is that valve was originally going to distribute a free disc to current holders of console TF2 with patches and new maps, is while Sony were all up for patches, for some reason Microsoft refused (something to do with them not wanting to "give away" content, and people should have to buy the patches).
Not sure where I read it I'll try and dig up the link but i think it was a stumble so it will be hard.

Although TBH, have you seen youtube videos of it???
Orange X 24/7 players have more skill than most of the console TF2 players.

The PS3 makes it easier for patches but Gabe hates Sony. He couldn't be arsed to port it to OpenGL so it simply runs "shit" compared to how it fairs on the Xbox 360; where it should perform so, SO much better.

To be quite honest i'm not sure why they bothered bringing orangebox to the console's, with all the bugs we're aware of, that are now fixed for PC versions; console TF2 is essentially broken. Sure they wern't aware of them at the time, but unless they have a way of bringing these important patches to the whole community, it's a waste of time.

Don't get me wrong, some fps games do play well on Console, Time Splitters was brilliant, 007 games.. But not tf2. I played HL1 on PS2, it was terrible.
