Hi there, I'm a new mapper hoping to finally learn how to use Hammer and such, I have made a few different maps to mess around in and try certain things out but havn't made anything meant for actual play as of yet.

I currently have a few ideas for a CTF and a Medieval Push map kicking around, I'll post a forum thread whenever I get around to attempting them. But first, quick question...

So one of the first things I tried was to download the Swamp, Bulletcrops and Construction Themes, both Construction and Bulletcrops work fine, but the download link for the Swamp theme takes me here...

If anyone has an idea on how to fix this, or can provide a proper link to the pack, it'd be greatly appreciated. ^^

The swamp pack got bought by valve and is now already part of the game - some parts however are not in the official version though, like skyboxes and particles. But i do not know a complete list. Maybe someone else does?

I don't think anyone ever compiled a list of what was and was not included. I heard skyboxes weren't included, and some of the particles.

Anyways, welcome to community! If you have questions just jump over to the tutorial section (link up top), if you can't find anything there, try the Valvle Developer community Wiki, or just ask :D

Can't wait to see what you got. A CTF map is a great way to get your feet wet into mapping, it defiently helped me out when I made my first one.

I see, so that's what the problem was, in any case thank you for finally telling me what has caused me many hours of grief trying to find these elusive textures and models.

Also thanks for the suggestion on what game type I should start with, I appreciate all the help I can get.

Smaller maps are defiantly best to start off with. Something like a CTF, arena or KOTH to get you started really helps you quickly get to grips with mapping.

Anyway, welcome, feel free to ask any question you have about mapping and have enjoy
