Some Displacement Problems

I can't seem to get displacements to work anymore. I open up my displacements tab, and it wont let me select any brushes. I used to be able to do it, so I don't see what im doing wrong.

Any suggestions? I'm not sure what kind of additional info someone might need to help me with this, so please ask questions if you have to.

A rather stupid idea is, maybe you turned off the "highlight selected faces" tick (don't remember how exactly it's named but I did do that once lol)

Where is that located at? I can't find it, so I don't think that would be it, but it's worth a shot.

On the face edit sheet, hit materials at the top, then near the thumbnail of the texture there should be a button that reads "hide mask'.
