One of my friends wants a direct-port from l4d to tf2 (we both have l4d, but he wants to play the maps without zombies, and with tf2)
Basically, i'm just wondering: Is it even possible, first.
i know i'll need GCFScape, which i have, but i'm not entirely sure what i have to do to the maps to make them compatible with hammer.
I may be just not doing something simple, and i know this website isn't known for its niceness towards newbies, but, yeah, if you can help, please do.

Its possible, but you will have to mass convert the texutres and the models (and all their parts) over. Entities would be bad (I think).

Usually converting a map like L4D to TF2 looks out of place style wise, and its really really off gameplay wise. Might be best to pick your favorite part of the map he wants and rebuild it in hammer, and make it look more tf2-ish. I know that someone did that with Mercy Hospital and it was surprisingly good.

You'd also need to rerun VRAD on it to get it to work.

Also tf2 maps are 2 times bigger scale wise

I read that it was more like 1½, or something. Like 1 Hammer Unit = approx. ¾ of an inch in the "realistic" games, and half an inch in TF2.
