I don't get what all the fuzz is about.. I'm the one who re-textured the HEV-suits (And some others textures in the map) and I do not CARE ONE SLIGHT BIT if my name gets included in the beta or not as long as I get it in the final... He's a good guy. Just be thankful he appreciates the assets and includes them in the map. He said he will credits the authors of it.
irrelevant. credit is needed if you want to post your map here.

"Just be thankful he bothered to steal them at all!"

The terms and conditions of using custom assets -- at least what is posted here -- is that you credit the author when you use them. When you release a version, whether it is final or not, that means you are using those assets. It doesn't matter if later the assets are cut.

"Well, I decided I didn't want the money, so you can't convict me of robbing that bank!"

You credit things when you use them.

Mehh, I'll stop wasting my time on this useless chatter. It's funny that none of the creators of the assets that ARE included are complaining. Only outsiders.

Despite all the shitstorm around this map (for no logical reason... tf2m community strikes again!), I'm gonna say something good about this map.

It sets out to make a goal, and it does it. Which is more than what I can say about many of the maps in development here. Its goal is to provide a 2fortesque experience to a custom 5cp (without being 3+ hours long hopefully), and it wants people to play longer rounds on it. Not saying I like that. Hell, I hate it, but I have to admit that this map was designed with the intention, and is finally looking like a TF2 map.

Now, I don't like it, I'll say that, but it has a defined goal and you're sticking with it, so by judging from that perspective, I don't know very well! Blackmesa never really interested me in the gameplay sense. Good luck on it though, either way.

Also, I see you're already using many of void's public materials and whatnot. Cool! I think you're already using this for overlays, but may I suggest using the nuclear waste as the green water/waste instead?

(Most of my gameplay experience is based off of previous versions of blackmesa. I have not loaded up the map locally to check for aestetic and/or clipping errors, and I do not have the time today. I apologize for that).

They don't know about this thread yet, and even if nobody is complaining, it is pretty dick move to NOT give any credit for others work, no matter what map version.

Please don't do that, JustJv. This is a rule of TF2M, Contributors to a map need to be Credited, it's simply courteous.

Please don't try and troll.

Low quality model texture.

cp_blackmesa2_beta30002.jpg

This is a dim route. It slows people down too much to be usable, and also opens/closes so is no good for spies.

cp_blackmesa2_beta30003.jpg

Just use the standard CP numbering, for christs sake. i spent twenty minuites on it, and still couldnt tell where the signs pointed me to.

cp_blackmesa2_beta30004.jpg

Hl2 textures ugh.

cp_blackmesa2_beta30005.jpg

A (incedentally a counterintuitively retarded thing to call a midpoint) is going to be impossible to attack.

cp_blackmesa2_beta30006.jpg

Need a displacement here!

cp_blackmesa2_beta30007.jpg

cp_blackmesa2_beta30008.jpg

These areas are like five fricking feet from each other, and have entirely different colours.

cp_blackmesa2_beta30009.jpg

Spawncampers dream home!

cp_blackmesa2_beta30010.jpg

Blue textures in red area, plus nonsolid props?

cp_blackmesa2_beta30011.jpg

This would be a lot easier to understand if it was more stylised.

cp_blackmesa2_beta30012.jpg

Players dont expect these doors to open. This is extra important because it means they wont notice a route into the vents (more on that later)

"But players who've played the original blackmesa will know"

"And those who havent will be shafted."

cp_blackmesa2_beta30013.jpg

How do i know i cant shoot this, compared to the others?

cp_blackmesa2_beta30014.jpg

Looks dumb on the rockface, put it on some kind of wall.

cp_blackmesa2_beta30015.jpg

Quite a powerful sentry position.

cp_blackmesa2_beta30016.jpg

Ugh, half-life-2 texture.

cp_blackmesa2_beta30017.jpg

When these servers go down, do they send the Geek Squad in through the air-vent or the alice-in-wonderland door?

cp_blackmesa2_beta30018.jpg

ITS SOOO SHIIIIINNNNYYYY!!!!

cp_blackmesa2_beta30020.jpg

Sightline! Come to think of it, this areas sightlines are just dim. No class but sniper will be at all viable.

cp_blackmesa2_beta30021.jpg

I count two routes into the vents. One of them is hidden. This is going to make people hate your maps layout.

cp_blackmesa2_beta30022.jpg

That's a rooftop prop. In here, it just looks like a big grey square.

cp_blackmesa2_beta30023.jpg

You have to shoot these out? There's no precedent for that! How do people know they have to do that?

cp_blackmesa2_beta30024.jpg

Lighting anomaly visible. plus, the vent lights are too team-saturated.

cp_blackmesa2_beta30025.jpg

This control point area is just a box. What interesting gameplay will take place here?

cp_blackmesa2_beta30026.jpg

I hope they dont expect to use those rockets, except for making themselves a skylight.

A looks to be a damn ridiculous layout, with height advantage, extra routes, ability to vapourate cappers AND the damn ramps all giving bonuses to defenders. One soldier could lock this down for hours. Hows that for stalemates?

Whew! Done!

I get that but I don't see the need of other people that have no business with the assets whatsoever trolling him.

You're inflating the bsp by at least 35MB:
dx80_refwater001_dudv
dx80_refwater001_normal
refwater001_normal

These are all VTFs out of the TF2 materials gcf with a different name.
dx80_refwater001_normal and refwater001_normal are the same texture.

35 megs? How big is the entire map!?

ETA: 105 MB. And the original blackmesa was 37.3 MB. Taking out the 35 MB, if this is just a minor edit of bm1, what's taking up the other 32.7?

JustJv,

To be fair, that's not a particularly fair view, it's not Wrong for them to want people they know to get credit for work they'd done, It's not fair to say that you need not give the credit, simply because those who it applies to havent noticed that you're using their items.

Pointing out that you need to give credit to people for using their work is not trolling, or are you saying we all are with site owner trolling him? We are just informing how rules here work and do it for assets owners that happen to be offline, trolling would be: Hurr durr, this map sukz, get good at hammer, but that is not the case here.
