Good deal, but I don't own a PS3. Maybe someday, but I don't do a lot of console stuff anymore.

Valve are just getting better and better with how they work!
Shame I can't say the same for their systems within TF2 *cough*MANNCOSTORE*cough* but still awesome!

Gamemaster: it is not.

Nerd: both ways I'd think.

Seba, we can't be sure of that. I'm just gonna get it on PS3, unless there's some bonus for pre-ordering it on Steam.

I'm not sure Sony would want you to download an entire game. Aren't PS3 games like 20GB or something?

(you can tell i know nothing about the ps3)

Step 2: update TF2 on the PS3 to PC standards for free.

More likely they'd just rewrite the whole game for their in-house PS3 engine, release it on PSN-Steam, and offer a trade-in system, like send them your Orange Box disc and get a voucher for a free copy on Steam. Easier than reverse-engineering EA's port and then having to deal with two totally different engines for the same system.

Well PS3 Games are rather large.
I'm now going to attempt to estimate the size of Portal 2.

As we all know portal 2 is going to be rather large so im going to guess it's about the same file size as Half life 2.

Now Half Life 2 is (according to my Pc) 5.1123 GB.

Now considering it's on the PS3 it'll be on Blu Ray therefore increasing the qaulity and increasing the file size by (im guessing) around twice the size so it should be roughly 10.2246 GB on PS3.

My first reaction was to buy it for PS3.

Then I realized I'd have to pay $60, when it'll be $50 at the most on steam, possibly lower, probably packed with something else, and certainly % off if you preorder. That and I'd get the PS3 version with a free PC copy, then never play the PS3 copy.

Oh well, hopefully it'll get some console gamers to play it on PC and have the groundbreaking realization that it's more fun on PC.

valve gets less money out of you if you buy it on ps3
breakdown of a 60$ ps3 retail version:
-retailer gets ~12$
-sony gets ~12$
-EA gets a good piece of the cake for distributing the game
-and valve gets the scraps (usually under 15$)

breakdown of a 60$ steam version:
-valve gets 60$

sure, having both version is cool but it's still stupid to buy the ps3 version knowing you're only going to play it on pc.
(this is a move to convert the ps3 mass to pc gaming, not the opposite)

also, portal pins for tf2 will probably be given with steam preorders, not ps3 copies

Blu-Ray does not work that way. If the game is bigger than Half-Life 2, it's because either the game is longer or it has higher-res textures/higher-poly props or both. Now, obviously, it will have higher-end graphics than Half-Life 2 (all their recent games already do), but Blu-Ray has nothing to do with it.

Speaking of game size, I just did a check out of curiosity and discovered that the Half-Life 2 Episodes both trump the entirety of Half-Life 2 at 6GB and 8.5GB, respectively. What the heck?

EDIT: In fact, Episode Two is bigger than Left 4 Dead 2, and HALF-LIFE 2 ITSELF is bigger than Left 4 Dead. What the double heck?

Too bad the full retail price for a game in Norway is 1.5 to 2 times the price of what I'll pay on Steam. :S

Plus, assuming this means I can't preload the game on Steam, I don't know if it'd be worth it.

I'm not sure Sony would want you to download an entire game. Aren't PS3 games like 20GB or something?

You can download (a very limited amount of) full games. LittleBigPlanet was made available for download some time after its retail release, and to make another assumption, that's a pretty big game. So this working the PC > PS3 way is certainly possible, but I doubt it.
