This map is based off a location barely mention in the awesome webcomic "MS Paint Adventures": "The Land of Tents and Mirth", or LOTAM for short.

when I say "barely mentioned" I mean there is literally only one page in the entire comic so far where we get even a remotely good look at it. However, in that one good look, we can easily deduce that this is a Circus/Carnival-themed planet.

anyway, my true purpose here is that I am seeking someone willing to detail this map pro-bono. While I feel I have the gameplay of this map mostly figured out down to just adjusting values like Cap time and Respawn time, I feel I need some help to nail-down the Circus/Carnival theme (I started making this map before I even picked a theme!). The biggest things I need help with are displacements and the 3D skybox (both currently non-existant)

The textures were made by a friend of mine on the MSPA forums, and a number of people there are also supplying other assets for the map too, so here is a link to the thread I have started there too.

if anyone here wants to contribute (again pro-bono) to making any textures or props for this map, that could also be greatly appreciated. (lol lets make a full-blown circus/carnival theme!)

No real knowledge of MS Paint Adventures is necessary; in fact, if the end product of this map is good enough I may just make a version where I gut all of the MSPA-related material and call it "cp_circus/carnival" or something like that.

Good God those textures.

I doubt anyone here is willing to commit their time to this; it's too silly, imo. Good luck though.

yeah, I understand it ain't pretty. I mostly just wanted to get rid of all of the dev textures so I can feel halfway decent about it being played occasionally the MSPA TF2 server without it being considered "just a gameplay test".

I agree, not many people around here would be willing to put time and effort into a map like this. Especially with the CP contest on. I can though offer you some feedback about your map though so you with others could improve it.

First of all I can see you've got some HL2 props in there with some of the crates and stuff, even if they are just place holders, there is other stuff to use. Make sure you use the tf props.

The custom textures... I'm not going to lie, they look awful. Especially for TF2. Fabric isn't a good thing to build with because it generally flutters around in the wind, something you can't do with brushes and stuff. The creases in the textures look to repetitive and the color scheme doesn't match tf2's palate. (When do you see large yellow textures in tf2). Maybe you could increase the scale for the plain textures and just the vertical scale for the striped textures and it might look a bit better.

As for layout, it doesn't look to bad, maybe a touch to open in some places. If it was any other theme, this could pass as a semi-respectable map.

Finally, I'm unsure if you've already done this but you might want to contact the author of the comic and just ask for an OK for you to be doing this. I'm sure it won't be a problem, but in past experience, some authors can get angry when people go and take something from their work and make something, even vaguely resembling it without their permission. Just saying though, it shouldn't be a problem.
