I'm in the process of re-creating Bam4 by Midori from qwtf to tf2. It will be a 5 capture point map.

This is my first map for TF2, so be gentle.

2 screenshot are those stairs without any type of supports or anything?

Take some liberties with the map to make it more TF2-esque. No spiral stairs, no weird obelisks. Make it brighter outside too. Looks good so far though.

I dunno, maybe if they looked different.

I repeat what I said about taking some TF2 liberties, though. You're more likely to have a good map that new players will enjoy and a map that players of the old version will also remember and enjoy.

Stairs are up next to the wall, so technically, no there's no supports. I'm guessing that's a bad thing? :)

It's difficult to blend the line between staying true to the old but making it work with the new. I think the spiral almost makes it bam4. Without it, it's just another map. Unlike the original bam4, I did not use an elevator, but rather a series of ramps. The lower room with cp1 is completely different and open for ideas. The main upper room is similar to the original but in my opinion, completely different. There are lots of options for sentry gun placements & defensive strategies, as well as 3 entrances so offense can mix it up.

Thanks for the critique & suggestions.

I'm not familiar with the original, so I wouldn't know what you changed. I'm glad you already changed some things. Regardless, I recommend removing the spiral stairs as spiral stairs in first person games are difficult to navigate, especially in the context of a shooter. The spire on Badlands is difficult to climb on purpose, for example. I think many people would agree with me on this.

Also, even stairs against a wall often have some sort of support. Probably add some beams or something.

looks like 2fort.

That's because in the QWTF early days, 2fort was essentially, the best map around. So other maps were created with similarities (2tech4, 2mach2, 32smooth, etc...) Bam4 is a twisted, swampy-high tech version of 2fort. About the only similarities are the bridge & 2 bases. Everything inside is different.

Maps like h4rdcore, canalzone, tf2k, and shoop finally broke the 2fort mold.
