Alright, so after I had my pc restarted my sound mysteriously stopped working

Symptoms and such:
Yes it is plugged in
It's not muted in the volume control
"Playback devices" says it's working
If i try to do the "test" option in playback devices it gives me a failed to play test tone

I have:
Restarted my pc a bunch of times in hopes of a miracle
Reinstalled the audio drivers and such
Restarted "windows audio" in services
Googled a bunch for people with similar problems, none of the solution i've found have worked
Tried some solution involving regedit

Anyways i have "realtek HD audio" on vista if that helps. so bluhhh. right now i'm exhausted and stupid

I think the failed to play test tone is important. That's jsut me though, i do not remember it ever doing this.

One time I did all kinds of stuff like this to figure out why my mic wasn't working. Turns out there was a hard mute button I'd never seen.

So my suggestion is if you're using headphones make sure there's no hard mute button.

Did you try to plug it in rear and front?
Maybe there's something wrong with your speaker/earphones. Test with other to see if they work.

Can you try to roll back the drivers?

Is it possible to uninstall and download an older version of them from the provider's site?
