WHAT IS THEIR POINT?

cp_gorge0006.jpg

It's shut at the beginning of the match, and once one person opens it, it stays open for the rest of the game until the map is restarted. There seems to be no logical reasoning behind them, other than to annoy me to no end.

Here's a pic of the gorge door as you probably normally see it:

So does anyone have any good reasons as to why it's there? Just something I've wanted to vent on for a while :s

The doors are closed until someone uses them. On Gorge, on Red, if you only use one door but the other one opens, you know a spy went through.

It's just a neat effect. Doors don't need to close.

maybe an optimisation thing? I don't get it in Coldfront but that door in Gorge isn't used much until the first point is capped, but still they don't want it to be locked.

Doesn't work for optimisation if the door never closes.

Seriously though, my line of thought:

The door was originally supposed to start open, but simply rotating the prop would leave the wheels not aligned with the rails. Setting the initial animation as open tends to be unreliable from experience, so I had it open with an input to SetAnimation.

Then I thought, a little more interaction in a map never hurts anyone, so I made a trigger to send the input instead of using logic_auto.

I love seeing the door closed when rolling out on coldfront. I dunno.
