I know this is obviously a mapping forum, but I didn't see anywhere to post this.
Basically, I've done a quick model (just learning!) in Maya, and did UVMapping for the whole thing, but as of now, it's still a bunch of seperate objects (inside Maya).
I guess what I don't know is where to go from here. I'm guessing (from this thread, I'm supposed to somehow combine all of the objects I've used to construct my model into one object, and then change the pivot to the ground, so it sits neatly atop ground when placed in a map.
Anyway, I guess I'm sort of at a loss, I'm using Maya 2011 (student license), regarding the 3D package I'm using.
And here's a screenshot of the model, rendered in Maya with UV mapping applied (I haven't done specular yet, still trying to figure out how that works.)
This is just what it looks like, a 64-unit section of track, which I made becuase Valve's track sections seem to "lie" about how long they are. 64 unit sections are actually more like 61-62, etc, so they don't snap together as I'd like in Hammer using a 32-unit grid. Also, I'm doing this for a learning experience, as I want to learn Maya, (modelling/uv mapping), and the Maya->Hammer workflow, for future projects.
Anyway, I appreciate any help ahead of time.
