CTF Pumpkin Patch (shenanigans map)

2 teams. 64 exploding pumpkins. Zero chance of survival.

So I was playing around on koth_harvest_event earlier, trying to get that achievement for blowing enemies up with the pumpkin bombs, when suddenly I asked myself: What would happen if I filled an entire small map with these?

So I did. This is the result. :p

NOTE: This map is just for fun - attempts to take it seriously may result in unnecessary rage. ;)

The large non-bomb pumpkins near either base (under the big briefcase signs, to make it more obvious) are flags, and you can carry them back to your own intel sign to capture. Because carrying a pumpkin larger than yourself on your back is a manly thing to do.

Careful though - shoot one pumpkin, and they all explode! They respawn in ~10 seconds.

Watch your step, REALLY watch your aim, and have fun! :)

Fun fact: Originally this map had 225 pumpkin bombs (a grid of 15x15, with additional pumpkins filling all the space between all the current ones), but that lagged the game too much and looked too outrageous to be fun, so I reduced it to the current 8x8 square.

I've been waiting to use something like that for ages

Anyway, it would be so cool if it had separate areas that didn't explode!!!! with the same fun "Short competitive" sightlines

Either way, still cool, and impossible, and awesome

HEADACHE WITH PICTURES!!! make one team snipers, the other normal, player's can't kill each other directly!!!

just to be cool, make the upper rooms part of spytech bases (the doors with X's that don't actually function as doors, but make sure rocket jumpers can look inside!)

I think that pumkins must be 32, because it is real slow when they all are exploding. You need to add ctf prefix to map name. And it will be good if there will be 2 floors it this houses and of cource you'll be able to jump(only rocket or pipe jump) to the roof.
So you need to add better environment. So it will be cool map.
And really add bot paths.
The second idea: only one random pumpkin will explode. When they all will respawn - random pupmkin will change.

Can you also add a 3D skybox? And you should make the spawns farther apart, and add some cover. You might need more health and ammo. Also, this map is very flat... you need some height differences. There is a great tutorial on this website. Good luck and I look forward to playing this on game day.

Heh ... just FYI, this map was never, ever meant to be the slightest bit serious, or even playable. :p It was just an experiment in seeing what would happen if a small room was filled with pumpkin bombs, and I thought others might have fun seeing the result. The CTF elements were added just for the sake of something else to do besides exploding the pumpkins, since seeing the classes carrying a pumpkin double their size on their backs seemed like an awesome idea (and it still does!).

I might do a V2 of this based on some of the suggestions here (more rooms, farther-spaced bombs, etc), but as it's a just-for-fun thing it falls fairly low on my priority list right now.

The thing about the pumpkin bombs is that they have an absolutely ridiculous damage radius, meaning that they have to be quite far apart or have something between them to keep them both from going off if one is shot. I hadn't intended for all the bombs to set off at once, but that's the way it ended up due to the ludicrous blast radius. I do want to figure out spacing to keep them all from going off, but I'll add more rooms first so that I can still have more than about 8 bombs, which isn't nearly enough for the 'splosionfest I was hoping for.
