Here’s some ramblings about what has been going on in our community in the past week…

Of course, the Halloween “Scare Fortress” update was released last week on Wednesday, and YM’s winning Art Pass contest entry Mann Manor has become the #1 most played map in Team Fortress 2. Hope everyone is enjoying collecting presents and fighting the Horseless Headless Horsemann (in addition to having had a great Halloween)!

Speaking of contest winners, Psy has released a new version of PLR-contest winning Nightfall, now RC1. He’s done some visual touch-ups and worked on his experimental overtime mechanic some more, check it out over here.

FireSlash, creator of TF2Stats.net, is asking for your help in testing out the new beta version of the site. With completely redone visuals, Steam login, and new fancy stats displays, it’s definitely worthwhile to check out, and please leave him some feedback! You can take a look at all of this here.

Community member Nerdboy has started an Unofficial Christmas Control Point Gift-a-thon Contest, challenging you to make an awesome Christmas themed control point in 2048x2048 units of space. If you’re up for the challenge, you have until Christmas day to submit an entry, so get cracking! All the information on the UCCPGC can be found here.

And finally, wrapping up with some smaller community activities: Dark won the second round of the weapon raffle, and the third round has opened up. Midget is looking to upgrade his PC, and Jonah made a cool hat.

Finally, a reminder to everyone who submitted an entry for the Art Pass contest: please add your Steam ID to your profile! Consider it like a shipping address for your shiny medals.

Same happened with Harvest.

On their own the maps have their perks and short falls, but the event really makes the map worth while.

I've only played the normal Harvest once and i'll probably only play the normal manor once or twice too.

I'd like to see certain aesthetic "upgrades" in the map, but short of fixing clipping issues i doubt YM will want to continue work on it. I'd slyly poke Rexy about it but even if YM only had to slide in some models to replace parts of his architecture, Valve would have to buy those too.

We'll just have to leave it to others to really take this manor theme to new heights.

The only problem with cp_manor_event is whether or not anyone will still play on it after Halloween is over.

It is a beautiful map, though.

Also, thanks for the heads up! I didn't know us mappers would get a medal for our hard work!

Although the halloween achievements were only available for the halloween period, the event version of the map is available all year around. In fact many koth servers will use it as the first map on rotation to get it filled.
