Nineaxis writing a news posts? Well don't that beat all. Hopefully this will become semi-regular.

So there's a bit of news for our community, starting, of course, with the Art Pass contest. Congratulations again to 3dnj and YM for your amazing entries that are going to ship with the game in the near future, and another round of thanks to every who entered. Even if you didn't win, your hard work is going to be rewarded, as Valve now has a special item in their hands, and soon it will be in yours: the Mapper's Medallion.

Matt/Lord Ned has kindly provided us with this awesome accessory that you will proudly be wearing soon (in Valve time). Thanks again Valve!

You've probably seen that we've added a Feedback plugin, graciously provided by Geit, to our servers, allowing you to leave in-game annotations for the map author. And authors, you can read your annotations online or load them in Hammer! This is an amazing tool that will hopefully be of great use to authors and playtesters alike. Thanks Geit!

Some other happenings in our community include some cool Item Raffles that are going on. The first one saw a spectacular 51 items added to the pool, which Matt won, and a second round is currently underway right now. If you'd like to chip in an item for some community fun, check out the raffle.

Finally, a couple of highlights from the WiP-in-WiP thread. Tovilovan has posted some awesome screenshots showcasing the map he's working on. Beautiful lighting and a neat take on an industrial/forest theme. And Void has some early shots of a pretty unique map in a dinosaur skeleton. Check those out!

Wow, so aside from the medal this is like a TF2Maps community update post. Kinda nice to see some spotlighting going on. You could make posts like this a weekly thing as far as I'm concerned.

Yes. Spotlighting is a good idea, but it does depend on whether there are any progress development releases . Sometimes there are weeks of only fresh alpha maps. So weekly spotlights might not be appropriate. Although i suppose you could highlight some for/from gamedays or something...

It's nice to see the guys who entered the contest anticipating that they'd potentially get nothing for 3 months of work get rewarded. Not just because i am one of those people.

Edit: Holy shit, my pink banner made me shit my pants.

Awesome!!! I too approve of this weekly/bi-monthly news posts.

Any plans to make the news threads show up in the new posts link yet?

I doubt anyone will notice that in-game, Joshua.

A regular community update would be nice. I was going to suggest a post every x updates to beta maps, but then I remembered we have like two or three maps in beta in the Maps section :3
