Giving feedback is a chore. You need to remember the issues/problems on the game day map. You need to take screenshots of the problem. You need to upload them.

Then you need to come on the forum and post it. Explain whats wrong, link pictures. Many just dont do it.

That's pretty much a thing of the past! (or until valve breaks this :p )

Geit has been developing a pretty neat plugin and has graciously allowed us to have at it.

http://feedback.tf2maps.net (or http://tf2maps.net/feedback if the subdomain doesn't work)

The system will let you annotate map issues and problems in the game. Everything then gets sent to our feedback area. Nothing your comment, the spot where the comment was made, and the map your comment was made on.

Simple as pie.

List of commands:

  • !feedback - Makes an annotation where you are looking to provide targeted feedback to the map author
  • !deleteannotation - delete annotation if you're the map author
  • !toggleannotations - Toggles whether you can see annotations or not

FYI the annotations have a fade distance of 1024 units. This may be problematic for an author to read if annotations are applied in high locations, like the top of a tower or something.

Also, annotations don't appear to show for spectators... not sure if that's intentional/fixable. Will talk to Geit.

Just updated the plugin:
  • Increased draw distance to 2048
  • Added an alias for !toggleannotations - !ta
  • Added an alias for !deleteannotation - !da
  • Increased refresh rate of annotations based on recent testing
  • Annotations now still appear when you are dead or are in spectator

I assume that should read noting.

This has got to be one of the most useful plugins available. It makes it quicker to provide feedback although takes longer to review it. Hopefully it will encourage more feedback.

Forgot to mention -: Make sure you claim your map by hitting the big login through steam button followed by the claim button on the map page, and don't forget to upload a screenshot if an admin hasn't already done it for you :3.

Even though I have nothing to do with maptesting, this is seriously awesome in so many ways, for you guys, dying for feedback. Brilliant great job, I'd say.
