Hey guys!

I'm trying to make a bend with the dirtroad decal, basically just a 90 degree turn, but I cant really figure it out. Could any of you guys help me out?

Cheers,

I noticed one of the screenshots in your post had a couple that were basically half-overlays. How do you do that? Because that looks like a great way to make sharp turns. I tried resizing with texture lock off, but that just made them the same half.

Change the U and V start and end values.

Change them to 0.5 or 0.25, then you can use 2 (or 4 etc) overlays for 1 texture tile and make more accute bends without over-stretching or over condensing the texture's edges.

This can be done after applying the overlay to a face, the texture will appear to stretch after applying the new values (as the texture will be smaller but still occupy the original space of the overlay), you will have to manually reduce the overlays physical attributes either in the camera view or the 2d view.

Hmm. Apparently Hammer just doesn't like updating the 3D view as soon as the values are changed. Changing the values before resizing (like you suggested) did the trick.

What I do:

1. Put those road overlays where you would like your road go. Rotate them properly.

2. When you have added enough overlays, select them all. (Still keep using overlay tool)

3. Put those overlay corners together by pressing shift and moving mouse to nearest overlay corner.
(E: You see those small squares in both 2d and 3d view, click them)

Doesn't work if you want to make proper road with overlays.
