should add one small health pack at the point, basically a little utility thing right there to stop fires and other such things
oh and in one of the past versions the crates below mid were too high to climb, they should probably go back to that, as a sentry on one of them is a bit too effective, the height makes it almost invisible
already mentioned this, but an overall lighting increase wouldn't hurt

as for the paths from spawn to mid...the areas seem far more complex then they need to be, after two games today I got in exactly one combat in that area, don't really have any ideas in that regard...but still...

Gameday bump!

Despite that I've let previous maps die, this map is not, and will not be dead. I'm back up at college again with a much heavier workload than in the past. I'll still be working on the map, but progress will be slow (I aim to have it completely finished by summer though).

In the meantime, hope the contest goes well!


I will also be keeping this post updated with recent pictures of the map's current state.

Duplex is a horrid name, so I'm thinking maybe something more interesting... like "blast pit" or something similar. Anyone else have any thoughts/ideas?

The spawn area seems a bit odd but that might just be that its entirely same dev texture and I'm a bit stupid when it comes to navigation anyway. Anyway, the path most to the left is probably the most useless one as you said, so removing it shouldn't be a problem.

It seems that the top offers a quite good SG spot right beside the big wood cover thingy (the place that you used all the time). Wasn't a problem now but I can imagine that a fast engi can do plenty of damage from there if he sets up fast enough instead of running around shooting people. The easiest way I found to destroy the thing was to crouch on the same spot on the other side of the CP, from where you could see a small part of the SG. I don't know if its good to have a so powerful spot in a KotH map, even though I suppose you could destroy it from below with some pipes or stickies easily. I cant remember if the ammo around the top area is a small or medium pack, but if its medium I think it could be lowered to small maybe.

Don't think anything else really bothered me, since it seemed balanced and fast-enough-paced as long as the entire team wasn't just deathmatching.

If it helps i had a level one sentry there, never touched it and it got 5 kills in about 30 seconds...so...yeah...
Though i really don't think its that OP...as any remotely attentive team would be able to destroy it in moments. I like to think that after people die from it once they will start checking for it.

Was only in game for about 10mins max so i didn't manage to try out any more tricky spots.

Gameday feedback... and it was awesome! Especially the roof area on mid where you could take surprise attacks from above, along with a counter from the windows from a distance.

Just some suggestions:

Water could do with upscaling, not that it's a problem :D

I can't wait to have another play in this next time it's up! :thumbup1:
