Me and Rikka where talking in the chat the other day, and we were interested to see how many people would like to have a forum mafia game ran.

For those of you who don't know, Mafia is a game that can be played on forums which is based off a party/card game, on which TTT is based off.

For those of you who completely don't know, refer to this link: http://toast.topped-with-meat.com/connector/mafia.html

I will happily host a game if there's enough interest, using the forum's PM system. I have hosted some in the past. If the game goes well and people want another, a tf2 themed one might be in order.

So, what do you think?

TTT is severely limited compared to what you can do via the forum, it's also confusing, laggy, buggy and short. These are much more intense games.

I don't know about laggy, but TTT isn't buggy (If we don't count some minor glitches some random times, but there isn't game without those) and shortness can be fixed by turning haste mode off. Then you can have almost 50 minute rounds.

It was extrememly buggy for me, even when playing on local servers, not helped by the fact that it uses CS:S weapons

There's a MASSIVE game-breaking bug: It uses CS weapons.

Besides, it IS somewhat simplified and different. Especially with the detective, if I remember right.

CS is AWPful anyways.

I'm happy to be the one who chooses who is what, if I can't do that, I'd like to play.

I have an awesome idea, including thread votes and PM's <.<

On a forum, it goes like this:

If I was the host, I'd write up 5-10 "special roles" for players, depending on how many people join. 10 is about the max, if you have more people than that, they're "vanilla townies".

I use a random number generator, ie, random.org, to randomly assign roles to the people who join up. I then PM those people with their roles and what said role outlines and entitles them to do.
Then day 1 or night 0 starts. No one can post during the night, so the thread starts off empty. The people who got a "mafia" role, however, will be deciding who to "kill" on their first night. When they decide, they have no idea what their role is, so it's luck of the draw if they kill someone important. They PM their choice to me, I make a post in the thread saying who was killed and if needed, what their special role was. It is now day 1.

During the day, the thread is open to all. People post in it dicussing the events of the night, and figuring out and following any leads. People can point to people that act suspicious and vote to kill them if they want them gone. Other people can support that vote, and a majority is needed to kill someone. The "mafia" also participate in this discussion, as no one but themselves know that they are such, and they must pretend to be townies and participate in order to win. Thus, the first day usually ends up with someone random being lynched, or someone who was acting very suspicious. They could be mafia, they could not.
This goes on until one party wins. The town wins if the mafia are eliminated completely, ie, all mafia members are killed some way. The mafia wins if their numbers are equal or greater than that of the townies.

The trick is, the towies, ie, the majority, have no idea whose role anyone else is, and they can't communicate outside the thread. The mafia know who each other are and can communicate via PM (discussing who to kill, etc), thus it's a very interesting forum game to play.

Sometimes there may be special roles, other than the basic ones, or even a third party, but I'll probably keep it simple the first time we play.
