My friend found a cheaters lament which is funny becuase he never actualy cheated but never got the halo when everyone else did...

Also becuase I'm such a good friend, I traded Bonk for some metal, crafted a helmet and traded back my Bonk for the helmet. Why? Becuase I'm such a good friend...yes, good friend, not becuase it was a batters helm...honestly...

I traded hats with someone, and they got a Cheater's Lament and I got ~~a rock~~ Gunboats. I traded another set of hats later with another friend an there were no extra items.

SPUF complaining (no suprise there) about items being for sale... Somebody said they've lost faith in Valve, yet they're doing exactly what people asked for, the ability to buy hats.

Smelt's gone! Wanted to smelt my refined metal so I could craft the new weapons but alas I couldn't...

With the one reclaimed I had, I knew I had to use it wisely and I did: got rid of that crappy Backburner and traded it in for a sexy new Degreaser - the *ultimate* Proyo weapon.

Burn and crit-axe in the blink of an eye, heck it's even retained it's deflect (which now only takes up 20 ammo!)

It's everything I dreamed of for the Pyro and more!

Not necessarily the same people, mind. Even SPUF isn't a hivemind.

I tried to craft a shortstop and it failed, eating my FaN. Then I looked at the steam store and got a Cheater's lament.
Yay?

I did successfully craft all the other polycount items though. Now I just need the recipes for the Vita-saw, hats and GRU

So I'm gonna repeat what I said in chat: I think a good part of why they're doing this stems from realizing users are going to abuse the "gift" part of the trading system to try to sell items themselves. Based on whatever logic it is that says that's not fair, Valve decided they'd beat those users to the punch. Why would a user go to the trouble of setting up a transaction with some stranger when they can get roughly the same deal from Valve and be sure they'll actually get what they pay for? And there's probably not much chance users will try to undercut Valve's prices; if the item isn't worth that much to them it's probably not worth going to the trouble of selling at all.

Personally, I like to think they just handed them out just to annoy the people who run the dumb mods that auto-ban people who had one in their inventory.

If it isn't in the Catalogue (Loadout screen, book icon when selecting class), then it isn't in the game yet.

I really hope this doesn't mean Valve is going EA on us. I wish they'd never included hats in the first place to be honest... that's about when I stopped playing TF2.

The only thing i object to is the crates and the keys. a crate is not only nearly an obligation to pay 1.99, but it's nearly an obligation to pay 1.99, and you might just get a weapon you already have. If you could find the keys, or craft away the crates, or the crates were guaranteed to be good, i wouldnt mind. But the crates are the closest thing to evil corporate valve come.

EDIT: i got a cheaters lament from opening my store, which was coll, as i was owed one
