Maybe Valve did listen to SPUF and start selling hats then SPUF become enraged and shout at Valve for deciding to listen to them.

I'd quite like them to do that actualy just to see SPUF's reaction after so many people have said they'd buy hats. They'd buy a hat, then get the same hat in a drop minutes later and blame Valve for it. Then I'd laugh at them.

Trully we have a Nostradamus among us.

Also, supposedly a related PCGamer article should hit in the next hour; so we might actually get some more teasing news today.

I'm really hoping that "sell their products through Mann Co" bit really just mean "in-game" and not "crazy online store or some kind of points-based purchasing system".

It probably is innocent, but Valve's used TF2 as a platform for trying new things out before.

I'd buy hats. Sure.

Well, assuming they aren't silly like $20 US each or something. But $20 for 10-20 hats? Hell yar.

But I think it's just ingame jargon for how you randomly acquire new weapons and stuff.

[Edit] Ninja'd.

There's some silver-lining.

  • All gameplay-affecting items will continue to be theoretically obtainable by random drop.
  • You aren't forced to inject money beyond what you want to actually use.
  • Leftover money can be used for other Steam games.

Biggest annoyance will be that all polycount sets require a hat to get the complete bonus, and hats... well, good luck finding the particular one you want.

There's a rumor floating around (mentioned somewhere on the Steam forums) that Robin mentioned they're working on making a crafting recipe for the Set hats.

Found it.
