Looks nice, but on my machine the map dips as low as 15 fps in key areas even with no other players on screen. The waterfall was the worse offender. (Was that really necessary near a major chokepoint?) Same conditions, official tf2 maps rarely if ever dips below 30 fps for me. This map needs a serious optimization pass.
I certainly love what you accomplished here environmentally, though. Great job!

It looks good; really love the custom content and the area around the third point inside the house. Only thing I noticed was that a few candles in the house were a bit too close to the wall so you got a really bright patch and could barely see the candles, but it was only a few and it's minor aesthetics.

Overall it looks great, especially the glowing eyes in the death pit, very well done.

This map needs a serious optimization pass.

The map is optimised fine... props have fade distances and having been through in wireframe mode i can say that it is areaportal'd and probably hint'd. The only thing that's probably bad is that A can see the starting area and B at the same time. But the player can never look at both those places at once from A so it's not really a significant issue.

Very nice map, good luck with the contest. Rexy's models are all fantastic in this map and really fit in well with the general TF2 look.

I was honestly surprised. From the screens I did not think I'd like this, but your attention to detail is quite impressive, YM. Not to mention Rexy's models. There's a few things about it that bother me, mostly related to getting lost... a lot and the map feeling kinda busy in some areas. But that might be my own fault.

I... I really don't even know how this is possible. Multiple copies of a file existing in the same place. But it's not the first I've seen it, last time I saw it, it was a triplicate sky embed on some bad gameday map.

Yes yes, matt told me you were coming to post this. I can't really explain it either. I just used pakrat's autoscan feature so I have no idea what kind of wierd stuff it's pulling.

Fortunately it doesn't really matter, my file structure is ok (excepting acumen's stuff). It just adds a few extra MB to download and if I should win, and my memory of hoodoo is good, Valve ask for unpaked BSP + files separately.

How on earth did it manage that though, identically named files in the same place.. weird stuff. The most likely thing I can think of is your GCFscape is being silly.

EDIT: nope mine says it's there too. odd. (though mine at least has a nice photoshop icon for the vtfs instead of the ugly ugly vtfedit icon :p)

I missed the http:// from the link and it's acting as an internal tf2map.net link. well spotted.

I thought some sections of the map were relatively dark. That or sitting in front of a window while playing night maps is a very bad idea.

I was not terribly impressed by the screenshots, but I ran through the map today and was simply blown away. To say you've outdone the competition by a mile would probably be putting it lightly, this is truly a work of art YM. I thought that the more traditional approach of some of the others like Ace or Mangy or even the exotic like Whark would impress me more, but I have to say that I love what you've done here. Plus, the assets are definitely going to lead to some great new maps.

Now to actually play it with some other people. US server anyone?

Your textures probably wouldn't appear to be so busy if they had their colours toned down a bit, so the more saturated player models stick out more.

But personally, I think it's fine. The patterns are simple, and I think any break in the lines would stick out like a sore thumb.

Still, this is the best map that still manages to keep a healthy FPS. Definitely my pick.

P.S. you should have put some more eyes on the underside of the final point, so they'll be staring at you if you fall down :p

I meant like directly under the point, looking down. It would look like they're swarming after you accidentally trodden into their lair. :O

One of the best looking/detailed maps I've ever seen.

It's on my server, Black Company, available for RTV (along with almost 100 other custom maps).

In console:

Oh god it's literally the best map I have ever played.

Before this, my 2 most played maps were the artpass base and koth_harvest so this is like a vastly better combination of my 2 favorite maps, thank you :)

If I could make any sort of criticism, although that's too late now, it's add more paintings on the walls, the red spawn has a pretty long hallway that's almost completely empty :/
