So just last night 2 of my 4gb's of RAM pooped the bed on me.

So i'm planning on getting some RAM to replace the sticks i lost and replace the old ones that are still alive (about time anyways).

I was just wondering what should i be looking for number wise other then the GBs?

Type and frequency are the 2 most important things. bandwidth and Latency should only be prioritized if you're aiming to really OC your system. So, find out what type of RAM your mother board supports (ddr, ddr2, ddr3) and what frequency it's running at. (800, 1600, etc) or alternatively, you can go to your mother boards website, find your model, and check fro RAM compatibilities.

Oh ok, so a motherboard is always set at a specific frequency? or it can possibly take more then 1?

And i atleast know it can take ddr2 and 800 but i'll go see what i can google up regarding my mobo

keeping in mind that it'll default down to the lowest frequency RAM you have installed.
