CTF Frogger is a small CTF style map

** STILL IN BETA ** but very playable

Run to avoid the trains in this train yard,
working your way to the other teams garage and into the flag room,
Take the flag to your Garage to capture!

Small map for the slow nights

This map is drafted by [GR2R]Cam and [GR2R]Toxic Mantis
And put together, textured, and programed by [GR2R]Cam

Thanks to every one at TF2MAPS.NET
AND
Treythepunkid for his robot
Acumen for his Tractor
FernFerret for the Capture zone signs
Selentic & crew for 2 trains
Brainsample for some cars
and any one else I missed here.

This looks fullbright. Alpha stops when there are no more major changes being made. Lighting is one such change.

EDIT: Nevermind, that was just the screenshots. However, There are a lot of HL2 models in use. Those really stick out and don't belong in a TF2 map. The choice of flags that were deprecated on release instead of intelligence briefcases is another decision you should reconsider. The capture area is ridiculously small. There is also no warning at all which trains are coming out. There is definitely an alpha.

play tested at 69.65.31.234:27015 and some at 69.28.221.170:27018

HL2 models. yes. but they fit the area of the map, being a auto shop idea.
i guess i can change the auto shop into a store room or something.

flag or Intel. we found that the intel was getting lost more with the trains. the flag is easyer to find after a train kills the carrier. im working on something differnt.

the capture area is smaller to make the small map a tad bit harder. its still easy to cap.

warning with trains coming out, well... for 1, that be would alot of noise, all the time if it was a sound warning and when your playing with a few people, being a smaller map, you don't have time to look for lights. and 2, the idea behind the map is the old 1980's video game frogger.

and alpha or beta. in my circle of friends, a alpha is a map thats un textured, no lights, not play tested, and usually does not work or play well. this is just a small simple map, yes it is still young in its years, more ment for a smaller group of people to have a game with out a huge map that every one seems to be making.

i never said it was done. but it is playable and not ugly. even RC's still get changed, edited and updated.
besides, this is only map#3 from me. and i know im far from a master mapper but this is better than some that find their way here.
this is all my 2 cents, but every thing in the map was thought out a little and has some reason behind it

While the type of model fits, the style is completely different. Same with the flags. Imagine going back to the 1800s, but instead of a general store on Main Street there's a Wal-Mart. While it's still a store for general goods, it's clearly out of place. Same here: These are cars in an auto shop, yes, but they do not belong in TF2.

The trains need some kind of warning, otherwise it just gets annoying. Just look at koth_traingrid: that's just a big square with a bunch of trains going through it, but players still know when a train is coming because of the arrows along the tracks. When it's possible to be sideswapped with no warning whatsoever, players get frustrated.

Not only the props but the floor texture. Not only is it half life 2, its concrete. With tree stumps and cargo crates sunken into it.

Also it looks like you've been using the carve tool, which is a big no no.

well, to me a battery from wall mart looks like a battery from kmart and a tire looks like a tire. i know there not for the game. but they fit the need. im sorry i cant make my own yet. yes i've try'd.
and same for the buggy, as it looks like my friends buggy in the picture below it. it is there to be a cool car. maybe if i can make my own, ill change it.
yes, you got me on the floor. the idea was the stuff is heavy and sunk over the time its been there.

yes i used the carve tool as thats what the Tutorial's show. im sorry if im not born knowing this stuff and that im late to join the mapping thing. im learning what i can where i can. and all of it is as I go. but i guess thats why im here.

No cover, no symmetry, prop spam, final destination.

Basically, this map (imo) should be more interesting then a box with a few ditches and models in it, especially if you want to spice up the server on a slow night.
