Did some more work on the clouds... still havent gotten the rain to work in the 3d skybox. :\ Sorry the screens don't show much, its hard to take screenshots of something so massive.

Thats better but, no matter what the clouds wouldnt be one uniform thickness. So even the bottom would have spots where a bright spot or two would break throuh. No where near as bright as the top, but noticeable. Right now it looks like one solid cloud is rolling in, instead of a series of clouds like in nature.

I think the cloud works as one unit. It's stylized like the rest of tf2. It's not realistic, but I think it is detailed enough to catch player's attention without being overdetailed/distracting.

Also that screenshot looks AMAZING :O

Gotta disagree here. If Gooba is going for the look of a large storm rolling in over the plains then a massive single thunderhead would actually be pretty accurate. If you've ever been under one of those things it can actually look remarkably similar to the most recent screenshot.

Gooba, when adding your soundscapes I'd suggest putting a stiff wind in there along with some distant rumbles of thunder. From experience I can tell you that the wind alone really ramps up the intensity when one is standing outside facing an approaching storm.

The clouds are looking quite nice. I'd say spot on for the TF2 style.

Why mess with actual precipitation in the skybox? Wouldn't that be more resource intensive than a single displacement with a simple animated trans texture? It's distant rain you're trying to create, yah? How many questions make a paragraph anyway?

Maybe adding thunder at the far side of the cloud... With the sound effect and if you feel you want to brag a bit with detailing add the effect.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'll try to get screens of the whole cloud area soon. But until then... New stuff!

These are still very WIP-like, as you can see by the dev textures in some places. :D I was just wondering if I was heading down the right track, so let me know what you think!

That circular door looks odd set into wood, that kind of door is normally set in concrete. If you're transitioning between lo-tech and hi-tech then you need to go through a sort of industrial area first. I'd say that room should be less sci-fi inside and more industrial looking and I'd move that door inside the building so that the exterior screams 'SECRET BASE' a little less.

Otherwise progress is looking very solid, I especially like your use of the nucleus prop.

The red building's windows make it look like the building's upsidedown, hahaha

Anyways, I'm looking at the recent batch of photos, and while the interior is looking :O, the exterior doesn't sit right with me. It's really weird. I want to say much of the exterior in the new batch of screenshots is overdetailed, but on the otherhand, the detailing is somewhat needed. But as you said, this is all still WIP, so maybe I'm just picking up on that fact :p
