Honestly, the area around the pipe and stairwell seems too cluttered to fit tf2's current design scheme. By covering up the mouth of the pipe, you're making it less noticeable when it fact it should be the main pathway past point B.
In the stairway the bits of wood poking out on the side hinders horizontal movement while ascending the stairs, which is a gameplay taboo.
I know I'll get some flak for saying this but you're over-detailing things.
Btw, why is the base of the structure containing the pipe made of wood yet the pipe is made of concrete?
I personally don't think the whole thing is too dark. Viewing comparatively dark images against a light background (like the creamy bright color of a forum post) makes it terribly difficult to see the details in the images. Zoom the images to something akin to full screen and you'll see things much closer to how they'd actually look in-game. A couple lights would be beneficial here and there, but overall I don't think things are as dark as everyone seems to believe.
I, like some others, also believe the wooden boards covering the edges of the concrete tunnel enter into the realm of "too much detailing". That's a main pathway and instead of appearing straightforward and simple it's actually visually confusing. The wood planks actually focus my eye on the edge of the tunnel rather than where I ought to be looking - through it.
By the way, this is currently in my top 3 for artpass favorites.
Yeah, I don't know why those boards are covering the pipe. Either the pipe used to be used for something, in which case it was connected to other pipes and not boarded over, or the pipe is put there as a way to get from A to B, in which case it still wouldn't be boarded over. It's neat, but put it somewhere else, because it doesn't work there.
Wow! I love the overall look of the map and think you've got some really smart ideas in there (my jaw dropped when I saw the BLU spawn panorama and your rendition of the point A to point B tunnel). I'm excited to check this out when it's finished.
You just might have to give a little explanation of how you went about creating the scene. When the contest is over, of course
To be on par with this amount of detail I'm gonna have to allot some time I definitely don't have to finish my map (started a few days ago) :/
