  • Things went well, I think.... Its been a few weeks since the last game day so I can not really remember to tell the truth.
Game Day: Part XI - May 17 & 18
** Advanced Disclaimer: This event is mainly to have fun, so all rules stated in this thread can, and probably will, be broken. **

When:


  • May 17 @ 4:00 pm EST (1:00 pm PST | 9:00 pm GMT) on the US server
  • May 18 @ 12:00 pm EST (9:00 am PST | 4:00 pm GMT) on Colt's UK server
Where:

  • Server configuration request / statement:
    • rtv, votemap, etc... turned off please
    • 30 minute map rounds
    • Start with testing maps, 30 minutes a map flexibly guaranteed (If we are running way off schedule, deal with it all maps are recorded by Source TV).
  • May 17th: TF2Maps.net Official Server: 8.12.19.105:27015
  • May 18th: Youme's Custom Maps server: 84.45.84.166:27015
    • Links will take you straight to the server.
Game Day Plan and Rules, Read these or I sick DJive on you.

  • Use either the TF2Maps.net website, FPSBanana, or a private website to host your maps. Do not use Rapidshare or other crappy filehosts.
  • Before your submission is accepted there must be a downloadable version of your map.
  • All map names must follow the guidelines specified in this thread.
  • All debate over what maps are submitted, what maps are played, etc. must be handled in this thread PRIOR to the game day. Once the map submission deadline is passed the rotation is set. Map rotation changes will not happen on the actual game day unless there are technical difficulties. If you have a problem with a map, voice your concerns prior to the game day.
  • Game Day Structure:
    • The game day has two parts, testing, fun play.
      1. Map testing, takes place first, all maps submitted for testing purposes will receive 30 minutes of play time. Map testing slots will be assigned on a first come / first served basis. I will attempt to accommodate time preferences to a limited extent.
      2. Fun / General play time, any maps that general users want to play together on certain maps.
  • Map Submission Structure:
    • * Map Name (ex. ctf_mycoolmap_b2 )
    • * Link to map download
    • * Map is for testing: Yes / No
    • Optional: Link to discussion thread.
    • * Denotes required field.

- All times listed in this section are EST.
- Submission deadline is Friday, May 16th @ 5:30 pm

Someone just expressed reluctance to submit their map due to concerns the server would not be fully populated at the onset.

So how do people feel about us starting off with some other popular custom map for the first 30 minutes while we wait for everyone to join, then starting at 4:30 we will move to the first map on the testing rotation.

Personally, I think ctf_Mach4 would be a good one to play while we wait for people to join.

I've only been able to attend 1 gameday from the getgo, and that was US side X (sorry, I'm a west coaster and I'm not getting up at 7/8 for the UK game :) ) and it did take about 30 mins to get the server full. That being said, I think this would be a very good idea, and I'd finally get to try mach4.

please please please make sure the links to the maps work this time. a good chunk of them didn't last time. and for some reason it takes a very long time for me to download the maps from the server and i'd rather have them all downloaded and in my maps folder so i can just play and not wait.

Hmm, not sure where you got that from, because not only did I download all the maps from the links, but the links still seem to be working...

That said, there was one link that did not work, and it was because the submitter had put a space in the link. Once I noticed that I edited the post to remove the space, but that was still shortly after the last deadline.

I'll try and have something ready for the gameday, but I won't sign up until I actually have something. That being said, as for the deadline, what time zone would that be? I'm hoping for PST :)

Sorry bud, for all my posts the timezone is EST unless otherwise stated next to the time.

Honestly, does 3 hours REALLY make that much of a difference?

Heh, maybe. My last class on friday ends at 6:30 EST, so I've got to be done the night before (basically, actually do a decent compile). But that shouldn't be a problem, just wanted to make sure I knew what the deadline was and I didn't do something stupid, like miss it by 3 hours.

Think of it this way, I am preventing you from procrastinating. What if your compile went funky at the last minute and you missed the deadline? This way you have all night before your class to get it right :)
