We've been throwing around the idea of having the tournament being played on our custom maps that we've made, though with the restriction that the maps must be reasonably balanced between all three races, and need to be symmetrical enough to balanced between each player.

If there's also a custom map component, that would be totally sweet. I would so appreciate that. 
Also, I added myself to the list of NA entrants, but didn't register on the site. Occurred to me that I should have asked if I needed to register. Do I?

Is it just me, or are those really small? They look smaller than Steppes.

You need to register on the site, otherwise you couldn't join the tournament list AFAIK.

Cleaver is freakin' gigantic. Sure it's playable, but its heavily unbalanced towards units that are mobile, making things like going for terran mech non-feasible.
Boojum, Night lights has the same traveltime from base to base as Steppes of War, Shale has a longer traveltime, and Windy Valley plays like a larger map until you destroy the rocks leading down into the valley itself.
Looking at in-editor images makes everything seem really small for some reason, but those maps aren't actually that tiny.
