Good, ice/snow should be kept to shaded areas. Direct sunlight is the most significant cause of melt water.

Bad, direct sunlight would not allow snow to remain here. I can understand that you're using standard alpha blend techniques to simulate pathing, but weather behaviours prevent this circumstance occuring.

Bad, the snow needs to follow the horizontal strata in the cliff texture. Obviously, here you have continued to use the same alpha stencil/pattern as used on the ground and the result is a weird looking environment. Snow collects in the cracks and on small out crops of rocks and certainly whilst in direct sunlight should not looked like the snow was caked on in a blizzard.

When you finalise the light direction, form your snow to obviously appear in the shaded areas. This should imply the nature of your maps theme even if subconsciously. Players need all the clues they can get in interpreting your unique choice of theme accurately.
Your map is definately looking much better.
