Why are you guys so angry about this? Valve is posting about an amazing game, made by one man, that is fun in it's alpha stage. And you're angry because someone's map got officialized, but Valve didn't gush all over it? Sorry, but I don't see the problem.

I never said *anything* about the game. I don't like the look, I'll put that out there. But the map itself looks TERRIBLE. Like just a dev texture away from an orange map.

It seems like to me they wanted to advertise Minecraft (okay, fine.) but needed to tie it in with TF2 somehow so they dug up that awful map. But maybe I'm reading too much into it.

This blog post left me confused as well.

I think Minecraft is a great game and it's nice to see Valve supporting another indie dev. I wonder if there's more to it, though. I wouldn't be too surprised if Minecraft showed up on steam sometime in the future...

To be fair, it's a blog. I imagine about 99% of blogs contain duff posts. Valve obviously just wanted to give a shout out to some devs they like and it's there blog so they're entitled.

As for the map, if the pubs like shitty, themed maps (that fit as well in TF2 as a drug-dealer does in a nursery) why shouldn't valve cater to that?

I agree that it's a bit sucky that Icarus didn't get a mention about coldfront going official but at least he got paid. ;)

I have to admit that Valve showcasing Minecraft and my map was a little... off. There are better made maps out there to show, but I guess since pl_minecraft sticks out or something, they gave it more attention. Just a theory.

I can see the reception of this is less than positive.

Why is the first two pages so up in arms and pissy? It's Valve, it's their blog, and they have the right to do whatever they want to do with their blog.

I think Minecrafts a great game if you fork over the 10 euros for it.

You know what dude, I apologise for so openly bad-mouthing your work, that wasn't cool.

Just because I don't like it doesn't make it shitty. I still stand by my opinion that I don't think it fits in TF2, but that's just my opinion and shouldn't colour your attitude towards this site and it's community.

So.. yeah, I was being a jerk, I'm sorry.
