Logging Truck

If anyone is interested in this asset, then I strongly recommend downloading the Construction Pack, as it contains a more up to date and polished version of this truck. It does not include the crane, however that is included with this vehicle as a modular piece if you really want it on there :)

Although originally stemming from Penguin's Construction Vehicle request, this truck ended up being not entirely construction themed, so I've given it it's own WIP thread.
The truck is based on the International Harvester L & R Series and will come with different payloads, as well as an optional crane component (other crane and payload replacement suggestions are welcome).

Polycount (In Tris)
Truck: 5038
Crane: 1286

the logs or any other payloads are not quite finished yet, but hang in there... They will be soon.

Damn this looks great. Question about the crane claw. Shouldn't it be turned 90 degrees to match up with the logs? If not it still looks great and probably no one would notice anyways.

I'll be rotating the crane claw and possibly the front wheels before release. I'm considering adding the claw itself as a separate object, as it won't look right if the truck is rotated along X or Y. Damn gravity.

Looks incredibly sexy, I'd love you so much for this release.

Except the trees look odd with the bark perfectly being slightly longer than the actual wood.

This is cool. Looks nicely done too. Although for some odd reason it reminds me of silent hill.

Finish this, PLEASE.

I'm DYING to use this and the claw in my contest entry. The truck for its coolness and the claw for a logging crane on top of a building.

Alright, alright... I've been putting this off long enough.
I'll finish the truck and crane tomorrow, all I really need to do is tune the collision mesh and polish up the LODs (aaah, the less fun parts of modelling).

The logs will take me a little bit longer as the Maya file containing them... broke (as did every incremental save of that file. Which was nice)

Any requests for truck payloads?

Having just the logs and having them separate would be nice, then you could throw anything on there AND have another set of logs (which is always wanted from me)
And if its not too much bother having the crane separated in a way so you can rotate it around would also be awesome.

I want to make a hanging log!

I see you are a fan of logs. Well never fear! Having the model separate was the plan all along.

Unfortunately the existing log pile model is ridiculously long.

However logs are promised, so logs shall be provided.
...as may the banjo payload...

Can't you just shorten the default log stack instead of... making them?

I have a nasty habit of doing everything the hard way...
Although, saying that I did try to work on the decompiled model. Cleaning up the mesh to give me something workable wasn't a whole lot of fun and I felt like I was cheating.

And err... saying that, attempting to match up the UVs on the log ends with the existing texture was also not a lot of fun.

It's a mixed bag. Nearly finished though.
