Hey (there seems to be a lack of 'pie' in here)

Hey all! I'm thaCURSEDpie :).

Just wanted to introduce myself and say "hi". I actually created this account a while ago (can't even remember when) but for some reason, I didn't have any real interest in mapping back then. But now, I do!

I'm not naive, I know that making a good map takes a whole load of time, which I won't have in the near future (going to college!), still I like to try stuff out and maybe, just maaaaaybe, I'll release a map.

Before my interest in mapping I was mostly busy with modding. Not modding for the Source engine (though I made some small Sourcemod mods too, but those aren't really worth meantioning - I didn't even publicly release them), but modding for GTA:IV. That was fun and horrible at the same time, because that f-ed up game had no mod support what-so-ever and thus crashed alot when you were testing your mods... And it's no fun having to tell your users that something just is not possible, when they ask for new features.

Compared to that the Source Engine is a bliss, with an actively supported SDK! Wicked. It also seems that the modding / mapping community for TF2 is a hell of a lot bigger and wayy better organized than the GTA modding scene.

As I said before, I'm playing around a bit (currently 'working' on a 5 CP map), maybe when the progress is good enough, I'll post some pics (to hopefully get some feedback).

Wow, I seem to have typed quite a lot... Well, that's it :)

EDIT:
One more thing: Hammer seems a whole lot easier than Maya. I was pleasantly surprised.

Welcome!? Yeah, forum definitely needs more 8.54 ;) (a cookie to the first one to get that) Also, Hammer is much more simple than most modelling programs, but don't let it lull you into a false sense of security, the Source engine has some quirks lurking within that you need to learn and remember when compiling.

Hmmm, thought I'd already posted a "thank you" message.. Seems like my firefox is failing on me.

So: thanks all :). You might've already seen me in the chat, and I also participated in one of the tests (though my mic didnt work and the server lagged to hell =/)
