IIGHT
you can lock this if you want after this post since it'll probably turn into another shit thread along with every other thread I've ever posted in despite my post to thank ratio. Anyway I'm done helping a group of ungrateful disrespectful 12 year olds, I'm not exactly sure why TPG made the last night post other than I guess to back me up and try to get me to stick around since he along with many other people value my presence feedback and criticisms.
I spent endless hours playtesting maps, giving feedback, and doing mspaintovers for screenshots, took it upon myself as a challenge to try and keep the CTF contest not a total waste of time and playtested the shit out of just about everybodys entry, uploading their new versions and trying my best to play in the 6v6 tests, even joining private servers alone with the mappers and stickin around postgame to talk about what I thought from different class perspectives. I set up the contest configs, configured and updated the competitive servers which while shortlived did provide a new opportunity for the community. From the start the contest was setup for failure and I wish anyone had talked to me or any competitive player to be told "no" when it came to competitive CTF. I'm glad it happened though because Shmitz and Mangy successfully revolutionized CTF with different gamemodes and Ravidge made one of the best default CTF gamemode maps I've ever played and it was cool to see mappers like Aly, TPG, and Jimmy get much better at mapping/level design during it.
You guys can say what you want but NONE of you understand the metagame for tf2 half as well as I do, maybe on a class to class basis you might know what makes an engi nest better but for overall gameplay and strategy/timing there is nobody better in this community by any means, nor was there anybody with as many contacts and opportunities for custom maps as I had/have. I have ftp to the pug servers and know a lot of very high up players who also understand what makes tf2... well tf2. I am friends with numerous league admins, am a league admin myself for etf2l... and this highlander tournament will probably be the last time I tag up as TF2M.
You guys wanted me to go but it's not like theres much to stay for. I made friends with Nine and approached HIM because I thought furnace was fun and got him playtesting without him even asking me or knowing who I was at the time. I tried pretty hard to get Youme to finish stark for no reason other than the map was promising and nobody had conquered 5cp maps yet. Only reason I became friends with Mangy was because of how intrigued I was by his maps on 2f2f and knew his cocky attitude would get him places in competitive gaming which wound up working and with my help his map got tested everywhere and eventually got league recognition in both continents. I than did the same thing for Icarus after noticing obvious talent in that detailing contest and trying to do for him what I did for Mangy and look what happened, two community maps, just saying.
If you guys think I didnt care about the community you were retarded or just blind. I think level design is very interesting and love seeing things progress along. You think I didnt take criticism standing up for yukon and coldfront in front of the league admins and gaming communities when people would say "this sucks" or "its not badlands." Some of you dont know how to take feedback and some of you need to go back to the drawing board with some maps but who cares, progress forward and never look back, but do it quick since tf2's community map status gets less and less possible with every major update.
Anyway trying to stick around with Shmitz, Mangy, and Youme gone is impossible, and with Nine gone for the week it just sucked even more. Icarus seems to be more interested in AS at the time, and your community is too close knit and stubborn to try and branch out on its own. Maybe a few of you have different places to playtest but the tf2m servers only get filled with chatroom bros and people from friends lists and your maps will get 0 publicity without any initiative.
Anyway good luck bros.
If you need feedback or whatever on anything let me know I'll be more than happy to play on your map or look for flaws and give you an analysis but associating myself with this community as a whole seems like a bad idea.
Hopefully one of you can make the next coldfront, or the next hoodoo(loljk) but let it be known that 0 community maps have been primarily tested by tf2m and that there is a bigger world to tf2 than the chatroom
