Alien Swarm - New non-FPS Valve game out Monday!

Ok something happened to my AS game..

I played it fine one night then didnt play for 2 nights. - NOTHING CHANGED -

I go to play today and the game starts up, i see the AS loading screen then right before menu comes up BAM to desktop.
over and over.

I verified files, i re-downloaded the whole game.. I have no idea wtf is going on, anyone have an idea?

I would figure downloading the whole game over again would fix any silly valve mistakes but nope.

Valve fixed crashing to desktop. And you know what happens when Valve fixes something.

Yep I was fine before they "fixed" that =( damn.

Updates to Alien Swarm have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

Alien Swarm
Matchmaking distinguishes between games in progress and games in the briefing
Updated Hammer’s simple compile options
Fixed fast reload sounds and incidental marine conversations

I'm so glad that's been sorted, annoying as hell.

I'm really glad they made this free. Otherwise, I'd have to know there's Valve game out and i had no intention whatsoever of buying it, due to it honestly not being fun.

This game sucks. If you don't like my opinion, I don't give a fuck. I'm sticking to TF2.

I don't find it to be that bad of a game. I like how smooth it plays and how the overall look of it is. It is fairly easy to shoot your own team members due to the aiming system but I guess that's what they made the duck button for. I'm glad it's free as well, but if they keep up with it and keep adding new maps and weapons to this game as well I certainly would've of minded paying $10 for it or something.

Honestly I don't really enjoy the game that much either. Which is why I'm mapping for it. Gotta do better than Valve.

I'm really enjoying alien swarm: the classes and choosing weapons at the start means everyone has a role - people fill these roles quite well. Top down means people stick together a bit more. Coordinated fire is really satisfying as well, much more so than in l4d1/2.

Alienswarm armory or whatever is starting to take off. Well, at least they have more than 3 maps now.

Alienswarm is a lot more fun than TF2 now though as Valve has royally fucked up their polish with the millions of stupid items with stupid stats.

Not to mention all of the achievement grinding is worse than MMOs

I think because you can really see it happening much better, while with the L4D series your team seldom has lasers showing and you can't see how well the guy guarding the back is killing things before they reach you, etc.
