Hell that sounds attractive! A good layout is always my biggest problem when developing maps. But I really need to surpass myself many times to even have a tiny chance to win this :O

Well I've just played the map and I can say I'm a little perplexed at how Valve has designed the map. Long sightlines, and odd start for cap A and crazy verticals everywhere just seems completely unlike anything Valve usually puts out for us. So does anyone else think they'll update and change a few things? Or is the intention for us to put in a few brushes and props to break up the big areas? Yet adding brushes would be in violation of the 'not changing the layout ' rule yes?

VALVe is very vague when they say 'not changing the layout ' because they could mean either don't block certain things, or don't change any of the buildings

Edit: VALVe should clarify this
and yes I am entering

Sounds really really nice. I'll take part and of course I'm excited, which style wins and from the geometrical point of view to the map I need to say, that It will be something great.

Sounds quite fun, now where did I put that tools kit. It will be nice to just detail a map

Who is going to judge what qualifies as a layout change or not? I've seen many screenshots already of people who have altered the way the map is played either by adding cover or removing areas and such.

Yea, i'm curious too.

I've had to move health packs to the opposite side of the room/into a corner just because i feel it's more appropriate/out of the way of cover. I mean... the small health and ammo in the hut by the BLU spawn is just poking out into the doorway... there's no way that's a legit item placement.

Plus a lot of the ramps are off the grid...

Pretty much any addition of a single medium sized prop can drasticly change the dynamics of gameplay in the local vicinity. "Common sense" also differs significantly between each individual so i'm not inclined to accept that as an answer to such a query, particularly since what constitutes a "significant layout change" is open to interpretation. But i also feel it can't be answered without directly showing a mediator an image and asking for a seal of approval. That's a lot of work for such a seemingly minor thing that is inevitably going to accur across all the entries.

I'd say if you can do anything you couldn't before, it's bad.

Say, shoot out of another window, or hide behind another large wall.

Well, the layout makes it apparent that Valve intended this to be another "underground stuff and cliffs and mining shit" map. All the funnier to convert it into a strictly industrial environment. :V

Well the second cap is named 'cave', whatever that hints at its anyone's guess.
