I think flipping the map upside down might constitue a gameplay change.

NOOO! This is a horrible tutorial, and is not to be used! Not only did the guy making it not know what he was doing, he's also got some inverted normals on his example model.

The proper way to do smoothing in blender is to use the edge split modifier. Set it on your model, turn off "from edge angle" and then select the edges you want sharp and hit ctrl+e and select mark sharp. You'll notice that the edge is now sharp.

Before you export you'll want to apply the modifier. This will chop your model up based on what you've marked sharp. Export and you're good. You can save before you apply the modifier, or if you've already applied it, but want to make changes to your model, you can select your entire model in edit mode, and hit "W" and select "Remove doubles". Then just re set the edge split modifier and you can edit your model again.

Thanks! I've really got to pick myself up a Garand one of these days.

What, you mean something along the lines of this?

The reason why the lights look weird is my seams, which I will delete upon release. Don't assume so much! Incidentally, would you know how to export an animation of your model? I assume you simply export it a second time under a different name and mark that under sequence, but would that fuck up the LOD models?
Also, epic world map screen

Almost done with foreshock's next release. I'm starting to have doubts I can pull off a cave.

NEWER AND BETTER

STILL way too dark.

Oddly what stood most off to me is the scaling. crank those suckers up to i would even say 1.00++

then yes.. lighting...

and then displacement!

Are you planning to release this? Because I can see people wanting to customize the screens if you are. It might be a good idea to use two separate textures for the screens and the hardware.
