Palm Beach (PLR)

Palm Beach is a new Payload Race map set in a (once) peaceful Mediterranean sea-side town. Both RED and BLU have just found out that the other team has a missile aimed at them. In order to prevent each other from shooting, each team sent nine negotiators to quell the problem. With bombs. Naturally.

Why......Why........ is everyone making a beach or desert map D: I've had enough of the hotness in real life, but noo someone needed to make a hot map it tf2 too.

Impromptu Feedback

Generally I think it played pretty well. The overwhelming things I've noticed are need for more cover at the crossover, and more health littered around the map. The higher side route could maybe need more emphasis on it.

Yeah, map was designed pretty well. I like the theme. Sniper sightlines are pretty overkill, so it needs more cover.

Enjoyable map!

I felt like this could be a one way door, because otherwise it's a bit easy to attack spawn.

I also think you should open it up a bit (as in less buildings as barriers to the scenery) so we can see more beach :D

I couldn't actually find anything to tell you that you need to improve. Good stuff, I had fun.

EDIT: I just saw that it's single-stage. I thought it was a final stage of 3, because it doesn't seem as big as Hightower. If that is the case, the track should be longer and there should be more side areas. Maybe another rollback area. Seemed to finish awfully quick most of the time.

Hightower's track isn't that much longer, it's just more stalemate-y. The playable area is nearly twice that of Hightower, too, which plays really bad on 32 man servers (I'm aiming for a pub audience).

I will keep it in mind, though.

It could be a little longer, imo.

Extend those areas further apart, maybe make it curve a bit or something. That area could also use some more height variation imo.

I had a run through, everything looks pretty neat, the only issue I see is sight lines. :)

Textures

IMO, the texture on the house dosen't feel right. The environment would look better with brighter textures (you could use that one, just make it brighter in PS). Other then that, I like it.

PS, what are the environment entities settings?

there was some long sightlines and it sort of felt too open.
also, a few times they got a sentry by our spawn up that staircase.

Right now, it was sort of boring layout-wise. In hightower, there was a nice choke around that corner going up the ramp because it was really close to the enemies spawn. in this map, the cart just stays in the middle of the map rather than crossing the whole thing and it was really easy to push the cart the whole time (i.e. not too many chokes).
