I need some steam help

Can anyone else not connect to steam? Every time I load it up, i get the stupid "Cannot connect to the steam network" error where it gives me the options to "retry" or "start in offline mode". If you guys can infact connect to steam, can anyone tell me how i can fix this error so i can play the now official map, coldfront?

no, i wanted to try and avoid that, but i guess i should give that a try; It seemed like in other cases, that did not help others.

Also, according to the steam stats page (http://store.steampowered.com/stats/), it seems like connections are wavering with others. Maybe I should just wait it out?
