Cubemap problems

I'm trying to compile cubemaps for cataclysm, but when I do, they only work correctly on models (Like the rocket, the railing, and the sniper scope), But don't work on brushes, so they reflect as if I didn't compile the cubemaps.

I have disabled specular while compiling, deleting and recompiling, and I compiled for LDR and HDR, but nothing is working.

I need help.

Have you added enough env_cubemaps around the map?

I've been using the Valve Batch Compile Tool to compile the map, would that be the problem?
(I don't think that it was, given how so many people here use it, but maybe it's config'd wrong?)

Also, reflections don't seem to work on the gameplay signs, either. The plot thickens!

In any case, I'm trying a hammer compile, maybe that will work.

There's really no difference that I'm aware of between a Hammer compile and a VBCT compile. Both of them simply call VBSP, VVIS and VRAD in sequence. If you haven't messed with any of the advanced settings in VBCT, that's unlikely to be the problem.

What exact process are you using the build and check your cubemaps?

You could narrow down the problem by uploading your BSP for others to check.

Well, what commands do you guys use? I'm using the method as outlined on the VDC here.

The odd thing is that I've successfully built cubemaps on a map I made back when Creative Gamers was still alive, and it worked correctly. Perhaps I didn't compile HDR on those maps? They're long gone, and I can't remember.

Did you rename the map before building the cubemaps?
I just had a problem a little like yours with my map pl_cottage_b4.

I compiled it and when I builded the cubemaps there where still purple and black checkers on my gold filled carts.

I solved it by recompiling (I don’t know if thats necessary) and then I builded my cubemaps for the original name "pl_cottage" (it worked) then I named it "pl_cotage_b4" and builded them again.

I did, but building cubemaps twice isn't optimal, and bloats the file.

Thanks for the advice though, I'll compile it as cp_cataclysm_a2b, not cp_cataclysm, and see how it works.

EDIT: I deleted my map file; how stupid do I have to be to... Looks like I'll have to decompile the BSP and fix all the errors that decompiling causes.

Now I got the same problem. I don't even have HDR enabled from VBCT. And I built cubemaps and did mat_reloadallmaterials.

I were using well skybox texture, I try to change that...

Sorry for doublepost.

CapellanCitizen, try to change your skybox texture. I changed it from well skybox texture to hydro skybox texture, and now it works!
