Hi, watching youme get kicked from the tf2m chat this morning was pretty fun, and watching the ny server bring peace and unity to the community made me kinda happy so i donated again.

Regardless I sort of want to mod, despite the fact i wont have to put up with selentic and trotim (thanks nine) itll still probably be a task. I'm transferring schools in the fall if all goes well and I'm not going to be dicking around at rutgers playing comp tf2 instead of doing homework.

That being said I wanna stay in touch with the tf2 community and help you bros out since map feedback is kinda fun for me (whether or not i do it politely) ;)

I have a firm grasp on this game, geometry, how stuff works, know a majority of the members, judged the contest, and troll much much less nowadays since I have less and less free time it seems.

Uhhh discuss (aka start a flame war) this is a pretty legit post, id be down to help drp and nine since it seems like everyone else peaced out for the next contest.

Flame. You would not make a good staff member. Yes, you're community oriented, but you're too... arrogant.

I think it should be made clear that very many of us want to help out with the moderation around here (Me too :p), so I'm hoping drp will have people send in applications again. Because the alternative is everyone making campaigns like this, which would be silly.

I would probably support you considering how helpful you have been for people, at times, but i'm not entirely sure moderator status would actually increase your productivity here. Plus giving you that sort of power would only allow you to be more of a dick than you already are.

This is the wrong channel to become a mod, but then making a public forum thread about becoming a contest judge was also the wrong channel as well, is this what we're to expect from you in the future, as a moderator? Publicly inciting divides in the community?

I wouldn't want you as a moderator because you simply antagonise people too much, and any serious discussion gets degraded into "who cares, this is the internet, so here's a one liner to undermine your opinion and put you in your place".

the judge thread was pretty trollish but like who cares, i did a good job judging. you guys also forget i spent all of last winter uploading maps for you guys when the uploader was down and helped develop a decent amount of the customs right now. uhh idk, once i had rcon and ftp and i dont think i was too much of a dick. i just want to be mod to help out with shit since people seem to be puttin mad pressure on mr 9xs and im sure the next contest will need more people to back it

also drp will have a change of heart once i blackmail him with pictures of him trotim and selentic at the furry convention last fall

edit: i did abuse tf_birthday 1 on more than a few occasions, but like who doesnt enjoy confetti and presents when they get a kill

A better start would have been putting this in an appropriate forum.

Moving now...

...but like who cares...

This was exactly my point.

That's not the attitude of a moderator... You can't have the stance where you believe it's acceptable to be handy at some points in time but then utterly abuse the community at other times.

Not everyone will understand or tolerate your consistant sarcasm, especially knewer members, of which you'll be dealing with more.

I struggle to say what I want to about this.

I'll simply say this:

Selentic is banned and so is trotim.

You are not.

There is something wrong here.

A copy of some PM's sent to flame by me and his response. Just making it public knowledge.

Flame,

I can't find a way to say this without sounding like a disapproving father, so I'm just going to say it. In my opinion, your behavior and your attitude and the way you treat other members during gameday and in the chat room and on the forums are not acceptable forms of positive cooperation. I know you have plenty of enemies here at tf2maps.net, but I don't know how many friends you've made other than a handful of those that I can count. My point is that I have only one enemy here at tf2maps.net, and that's you. And when I have a problem with someone I don't waste time. I do something about it.

So that's why I posted that thread. I'm not the only one who feels that way about you. I feel the number of positive things you contribute to this community are severely out-weighed by the amount of negative influences and people you've upset as a result of how you present yourself here at tf2maps.net.

Where other members are willing to complain about you loudly or do their best to ignore you, I simply have no patience for dealing with members that treat other members like garbage.

The threat of banning permanently or for whatever period of time does nothing to change the fact that what I posted I did in the interests of exposing problems of unrest and conflict that needs to be taken care of.

The fact of the matter is there's no positive reason why should treat people the way you are. It's unacceptable.

Now there's very little I can do at this point other than keep talking. Which is why I'll finish my thoughts with this:

I'd like you to consider revising the way you approach criticism toward mappers and consider more civility when talking and treating people during gameday, the forums, and chat. Furthermore, I'd like to you to consider that gameday is not comp play and therefore should be not treated as such. You can't deny that players will stack with you when they see you consistently scoring well above any other player. If someone asks you to leave, then I would ask you to consider leaving.

Comments today from impromptu testing like, "the other team is just sitting are jerking off" what kind of way is that to assess the balance of a map? That does nothing but aggravate and inflame other players. It sure as hell pissed me off.

What is really hard about this is that you provide feedback to authors that's important. Now you hardly ever do this in a polite way, and how are authors supposed to take you seriously when you're downright patronizing them?

I've been talking with Shmitz for a long time now, and I agreed to compromise and pm you to discuss my problems with you. But if things aren't getting better, I don't see any reason to break that compromise if you won't at least think about those things I've asked you to consider.

Pm me back, rexy

My "handful" of friends is pretty ginormous. Had your thread stayed up I'm sure the number of people agreeing with you would have been much much less than the people disagreeing and siding with me. Just because I piss people off 4 people in the chat room does not mean Im negatively impacting the community, just saying

You and 5 people are not going to be the majority here. The only people who got remotely annoyed were you void and possibly supertoaster who would not side with you on banning me since I help him and everyone else all the time. Open your eyes. People I've upset? really? its a video game on the internet. man up and take criticisms if I say the maps not enjoyable.

Where other members are willing to complain about you loudly or do their best to ignore you, I simply have no patience for dealing with members that treat other members like garbage.

Im still failing to comprehend when and where I treated anyone like garbage. Aiming rockets and hitting shotgun shots is not "treating people like garbage"

The threat of banning permanently or for whatever period of time does nothing to change the fact that what I posted I did in the interests of exposing problems of unrest and conflict that needs to be taken care of.

I'm pretty sure my uploading of maps and giving a lot of useful feedback is not what I would call unrest or conflict which needs to be taken care of.

Now there's very little I can do at this point other than keep talking. Which is why I'll finish my thoughts with this:

Do you even know me? lol You act like you play with me all the time or interact with me ever. Sorry next time I'll miss my shots on purpose and build sentries in the corner or play battle medic so my score isnt so high. your point here is pretty null and I'm not going to quit testing because I got too many kills on a public server.

What is really hard about this is that you provide feedback to authors that's important. Now you hardly ever do this in a polite way, and how are authors supposed to take you seriously when you're downright patronizing them?

Uhh a lot of people take me seriously, thanks though

All this is was a desperate cry for attention. Making a thread saying IM BOYCOTTING FLAME FROM TESTING is not a very mature way of getting shit done. None of your points are even remotely valid since you obviously have no idea who my connections are or how much time I've put into TF2 and the community at hand. You play your game, I'll play mine. If you want to keep trying to get me banned or whatever go for it because I assure you that it will not turn out in your favor.;)

Serious question.

If it was required of you to become a nice person to be a moderator, would you make the change?

I just think it's important that a moderator behaves well.

Flame. This thread is an example of why you should not be made into an admin. drp has said countless times that he is not accepting new staff. In chat, you said you don't care about becoming mod, but you posted this. You can't do this stuff. Wait for drp to say that there is an opening and then apply for officer.

Right, sorry for using the wrong word... :| Take "behave" out of my post, replace it with something fitting, and you can try again.
