Is this train useless too?

jk

It looks absolutely fabulous!
Will you animate it so when it moves, the crossbar on the wheels moves as well?

Again, its amazing!

I am concerned that this is not the same style of train as the others, a single style of train would be best for your trainpack really.

next concern: where are the driver and fireman gunna stand, and you'd better make a car for the coal too, shouldn't take you too long, especially as there are already nice gravel textures to use as the coal.

I'd have to agree with YM there, it seems a bit weird to see those wagon wheels pulling your streamlined car.

That isn't what I meant at all, I can't imagine anyone would put this engine and those cars together. :bored:

My point was that to have two separate train styles in a pack waters down it's usefulness. A whole bunch of train variations in the same style is good for interchangeability while a load of different styles with only one or two variations of each style does not allow much interchangeability.

The little engine that quits at the first sign of trouble.

If it's coal burning, why is the shaft that rotates the wheels not actually hooked up to any motor?

Echoing others' responses:
  • Needs a steam-chest/piston assembly. It doesn't need to be detailed very much, but something to plausibly give power to the wheels.
  • I don't quite understand what's going on behind the main cabin. It doesn't look like a tender as much as a continuation of the front boiler, which means there'd be no room for anyone to stand inside the cabin.

The thing attached to the bar that moves the wheels is entirely unacceptable and I will be changing that later.

Also changing the cow catcher.

Since a few people expressed interest, Selentic asked me to post this for you to see. He's expecting around 50k tris seeing how it's got the cart as well.

I'll try to inform him of any feedback posted!

Quick Edit: FUR stands for Federal United Railways~

Holy hell.

Selentic has no concept of budgeting. At all.

On a more serious note, the door on the back goes straight to the boiler. There's no way to get to the cabin.

It's ready to be skinned and animated now.

It's at 14k tris. He plans on adding real coal in the cart as well (so it won't be flat). Additionally F.U.R. will be fixed to be more sleek and less obvious, if that was a deal breaker for anyone.

He knows this, but I don't think he knows where else to put the door. (just my guess)

Well if there's no room on the front and the back is where the boiler is, surely the side is the next logical place to consider putting it.

If he doesn't fancy that he can always move the cabin back and the boiler forwards.
