i broke a few records today , slaughtering waves of medics, hopefully the medic frenzy will calm down after a while , but unless they release more classes at the same time in the future it going to be mayhem every update,

By having to get achievements to unlock weapons, it really has taken away the novelty of achievements. If they simply gave us the weapons and had 36 new achievements, people would have actually attempted to get them IN GAME and not by cheating (either via collaboration with others or the console command). Hopefully valve sees this and addresses this.

Youme i agree with your strong opinion but i think the medic achievements are ..bad.

Most dont promote team work or personal stride.

A medics achievement should be about healing, saving lifes some kills etc.

to me the current the new medic ones are like if they had a heavy one that said.

Get ubered run into a room with 5 people and taunt the duration of the uber"

I mean what the hell was valve thinking?

completely agree with DJive.

If these are the best "acheivements" Valve can think up, then they should be seperate from the unlockable weapons. It's not as if the unlockable weapons supercede the old ones. Sometimes I'd want to use them, sometimes not. This is great as it adds to the game. Just dont need the farming and the messed up gameplay as everyone tries to get the weapons out of curiosity.

It *sounds* like most of the people who got achievements from it had them rolled-back...

We're having all kinds of issues with people sitting spawn farming and doing all kinds of ridiculous stuff. We ended having to put a limit on the medic class. Just implemented it this morning, we'll see how the reaction is. We might get a bunch of people looking for class limits, but we might loose some people who want to play medic. I think it will balance out. It was the only way to stop the madness. Last night, I saw the entire game mechanics break down and there were really weird things happening. Scouts being ubered, people not using their ubers... players not medic were mad.

Yeah, it was crazy in our server for a bit. Then the medic top-heavy teams started to get their asses kicked and people started switching to more appropriate classes. It will even itself out gentlemen, have patience. It's only been a day....hell, not even a day yet.

I actually wish they had made achievements for another class as well, like the pyro or sniper or something... Then, instead of everyone trying to be a medic, the achievement-chasers would split between two different classes and it wouldn't be so bad.

Earning achievements is fun. I wouldn't want to get the achievements for free because it takes the fun and challenge out of it. However, I really think achievements should be things that a good player is trying to do anyway, like getting so many headshots or heal points. Any achievement that requires you to hinder the progress of your team should be removed.

I used the commands to unlock the weapons only, but didn't use something like unlock all. I want the achievements as silly little things, not something that I *have* to do to be able to experience all of this game (think someone called it WoW like already). Saddly, I lost all my achievements, the 8 or so I earned earlier and then then weapons ones.

I actually ended up going to a server with some regulars where I play today to unlock what we could. Whats funny is I feel worse about doing that then I did just using the commands for the weapons.

I agree that the achievements promote self-centeredness and hinder teamwork. Indeed this medic pack did change gameplay, but right now its been for the worse.

the odd thing is, these achievements would actually be good if the method was different, like, everyone could get the achievements but the instructions were limited to only people that played as medic for awhile
i mean, ive got 24ish hours as a medic, and ive done all but one or two of the things on that list, either by accident, luck, or just felt like doing something different
ive ubered some odd classes, spy is a surprisingly effective uber class, and scout is also fun, I frequently saw people down, just for the sheer fun of it (in fact i think the only achievements i have not done were the ones that require skill XD)

Though, I don't agree that the weapons should have just been given out to everyone, if a condition is set then valves goal is accomplished, there are more people playing as medics. The goal to get the weapons should have been based on playtime though in my opinion, 5 hours to get the 1st, 10 for the 2nd, 15 for the 3rd. That way there are still more medics, but they are less retarded.

Though personally, Im enjoying this overload of medics (the server i go to has a limit of 4) its just so painfully easy to be a pyro now, medics burn quite well :D

achievement_reset TF_GET_TURRETKILLS
achievement_reset TF_KILL_NEMESIS

Is there a way to reset longest life? I was testing a map and left it running all night without thinking about it - my longest life is 16 hours and I'd love to get rid of that one.

You can't reset stats, which are separate from achievements. There is actually a console command for this, but it does nothing.

I have all the achievements that I earned but I still have all weapons.

I could probably disable them if valve had left the RESET commands in!
