Im not really sure of the definition, but I last got one when I screwed up a vertex edit, and made something impossible.

yeah, sometimes they just show up for no reason at all believe it or not.
What I would also do it encase your whole map in a giant brush and move it in the hammer grid as well maybe 512 units down.
Just to be safe it's not the area that the brushes were in.
But also after you move the whole thing remake that roof.
Try to make it one giant brush and just manipulate the vertex's as well.

Go here & hit Ctrl+f than type invalid solid. You will find a basic set of explanations of errors involving invalid solids.

However, you said there were no compile errors, which makes me think I was wrong and that it's something else entirely.

You can try doing a basic "check for problems" in hammer by hitting Alt+p.

Can you post a compile log?

What's an invalid solid? I'm sorry if this is an idiot question, but I'm trying to learn as much as I can.

Invalid solid structure
• The solid has invalid structure, probably as a result of vertex manipulation. What this means is that the solid is not convex in every plane. You will need to either fix it, or if this is not possible, rebuild it.
