Dustbowl and gravelpit have different styles imo. Ones grey, ones brown.

So therefore I reckonthe classic dirt / desert theme is a bit overused.

Granary and Well look nothing alike.

Granary is underrepresented, Well seems to be a newbie favourite.

I disagree. Alpine is the best looking theme if pulled off right. Lumberyard does it. Not much else does.

I don't know if it's just me, but I always prefered the softer, cooler hues that alpine gives.

Also, desert is overused. Just look at valve maps. There's 9001 desert maps.

i feel like industrial/spytech is the most overused. mostly because regardless of the overall theme it always manages to weasel its way into a map. the concrete is boring and you can only look so many computer consoles before it gets tiring. its uncreative. at least alpine gives you the opportunity to create interesting scenery and desert has the derelict building thing going for it. sometimes.

I think that Desert and Spytech are somewhat justified in their appearance in so many maps simply because they're pretty much the core of TF2's overall "theme." A whole 4 of the 6 original maps (2fort, Dustbowl, Gravel Pit, Hydro) were some direct variation on the desert theme, and all 6 had Spytech of some form or another (Gravel Pit was minor, but still the RED spawn was Spytech-esque; all the others had blatant spy bases). Many of the official maps that followed, and several community ones, were also desert because that was the primary, defining theme of TF2 for a while. While it can get tiresome, it's the basic foundation of TF2 itself. So both themes get some forgiveness in my mind for their near-omnipresence.

Personally I vote for Alpine as most overused because it seems to be very hard to get right, and many, many maps exist that use it and don't seem to get it right, resulting in a dull and uninteresting environment.

So that's why selentic got banned. I thought it was just because he was always yelling at people.
What.

For the record, he was banned for "." and has nothing to do with the screwing with this poll. I just showed him this topic and that was his sarcastic response.
