Thanks for all the fish!

Should we keep the thanks system?

Wouldn't it be Better to have a Thanks and a Funny or Witty Button so we can see who is actually Smart and Distinguish between, for instance, Boojums thanks and the Spud ones...

I like the system, it allows me to still show some thoughts while not having to go out of my way to post stuff.

You're never going to tell who is actually smart by the way they push buttons on a forum.

Also I resent your implication that my thanks are any less significant than Boojum's thanks. I believe they add to your thanked count just the same.

Well I was Over Exaggerating, But I didn't mean it in General, I meant by Boojum, Most of the other Thanks, While if I look through this thread, every one Has one by you, Mostly.

I don't mean to Offend you,

But I was Trying to make a Point Between You Making a Long Wave of Thanks and Others,

I also Don't mean it shows how smart someone is, as I said before I was Exaggerating a bit. I was trying to put across that the thanks show how informative someone is.

And Again I didn't mean to Offend you,

I'm not posting as I'm just thanking the posts I agree with...

Dammit dammit dammit.

Anyway thanks are a nice touch to a forum, I miss them on forums that don't have them. Don't really care how many thanks I get or how many others have though.

EDIT: I voted yes but it has a caveat, the post thanks system most certainly DOESN'T prevent useless posts.

I don't see what's wrong with having a "your post is awesome" button, which the Thanks button currently seems to function as. You can say many different things with a Thanks.

Why is it so important to take it seriously?

I mostly press thanks when I don't feel the need to repeat what someone else said because it sums up what I want to say.

Also, waiting for Spud's free thanks :3

Most retarded debate ever :O

Everyone has said it, I honestly don't know why this was brought up and from where TPG drew this motive. Thanks are the post-free way of giving a message that is (in fancy talk: both subjective and objective) open to interpretation while still carrying the underlying message of "hey, thanks." It's that very hey thanks that makes me love it because it's a friendly respectful way of conveying a message.

Also, spud, are you trying to make a point? o_O

lol, spud.
I know thanks can be used anyway the thanker wants, but basically, I think thanks should be awarded when a post is RELEVANT to a thread, so it's fine to thank people who post something funny in an off-topic thread, but if someone goes and makes inside of a whale jokes on whalerace's thread (for example) and gets a whole load of thanks it's pretty stupid.

But at the moment they're still a lot better than "^" or "this." even though some people do that.
