Why does the lighting do this in my sewer?

Im not refering to the spotlights of light and dark, that is intentional. ;)

I am asking why the cylinder itself has black stripes going down some of the brushes (func_detail) I sealed the whole thing in a nodraw box so there is no leaks, so now I have no idea why the lighting is like that.

its not properly smoothed, how did you make the cylinder? does it look like a camera shutter? here
or does it look like it was made with the arch tool? here

if its the first, you need to make it like the second, that way it should at least have a chance of smoothing it properly

I guess its not smoothed. How many sides and how thick do you think the wall should be for a sewer using the arch tool?

I carved a cylinder brush through a rectange brush because it seems like what valve did on the 2fort vmf. I guess not though.

I'd make an arch of about 24 segments with 16 wall width, rotate it into position then use the vertex tool to pull out the outer points so the outside is square but the inside is circular.

Looks like your lightmaps are unaligned. To view lightmaps, change your 3D view to "Lightmap View" (or similar). You can then align lightmaps as you would normal textures.

Well after following Youme's advice and remaking the sewer with arches instead of carving this is the result;

cheers :thumbup:
