Get gcfscape and extract the soundscape txts that are used in the stock maps and go from there. Once you see how they are setup, its fairly easy to do. You can just work off the one you extracted adding and subtracting the ones you want to use.

Maybe Im just tired .I dont know what but I just read the whole thing and it makes no sense to me. Perhaps someone could simplify or perhaps I will read it later again.

I just want an existing sound scape for inside, outside and spawn rooms working so it doesnt sound so hollow. :)

just to use the soundscapes already there?

put an env_soundscape entity in, adjust the distance (you'll see the big yellow sphere) whenever a player is inside this sphere they will hear the soundscape played by that env_soundscape, and infact they will hear it untill the enter another env_soundscape's sphere
Then you want some places for the sound to be played, these are info_target entities, they all need unique names (I think, think mind you, I havent tried this: you can have several info_targets with the same name and the sound will play though all of them) then in the env_soundscape there is a "play sound from" or something similar and you put the names of the info_targets in there.

Ok I have to drag this up from the dirt..

I too am looking to make a custom soundscape, and yes I too have also read the links.. however, i cannot follow the directions, so i don't know what to do.

It talks of files in a /scripts/ directory. Well, I don't have a scripts directory... so.. yeaahh.

You guys aren't making soundscapes, your making ambient_generics. Idiots. Ambient Generic doesn't do sounds anymore for SDK, it does only MUSIC.
